So I called Lortone yesterday. At first they told me to contact the Rock Shed, but I pressed on and then he said he’d look into it and call me back later that day. Of course I got no call back, so was expecting the worst with my luck..
Waited a bit today and they just called and asked if it would be ok to send me a new motor and parts and have me do the repair and I said that would be fine. So then he asked if I could send a few pics of the problem and I said yea and took them and sent them to him.
So just got another call back from him, telling me that I don’t need a new motor. Apparently the motor bolts are attached to a plate on top of the motor that has metal tabs holding it on, so they’re going to send me the plate, bolts, washers, spacers, nuts and whatever else is needed for the repair instead of a new motor. I always thought the motor was sealed. Kinda cool, I can blow it out while I have it apart, to clean up any dirt in there while I have it apart.
A new motor woulda been really nice. I was actually thinking of trying to fix the broken one and build another tumbler, since the motor still works, but oh well. At least I’m getting it fixed at no charge and they’re going to throw in a new barrel guide, bolt and nut for my QT-12 as it stripped out on me when I first got it, but have just been using it loosely anyway.
Super pleased with Lortone. As mentioned above they’re very polite, helpful and stand behind they’re product.

Glad to hear that they're able to help you as well. I'm looking forward to getting my motor after the new year. I'm kind of hesitant to run the tumbler the way it is now because it runs so hot even when it's in the 40s in the garage. I think a bearing is about to go in the motor. Does your motor get very hot even if the air is cold around it?

I've emailed them in the past, and got a canned response, and no answer to my phone call. Glad someone is getting great service, even if it's not me.

They were really nice when I called. I got the new motor in just a few days afterwards and the tumbler is working just fine now. I'm very relieved.

I have to say, miket suggested I try them again so I did today. I got a wonderful guy named Ted on the phone and he was SUPER helpful. Maybe I just tried them at a bad time before!

Me too Mike!
They also let me know there are issues getting belts for the QT models right now; his best estimate was February or March if I got on their waiting list now.

Oh belts aren't an issue for me I just want a couple more QT machines and can't get them because of the Lortone supply issue. I'll survive until they're back in full production.
