Cher, I had been opening the barrels and pulling each rock out of the slurry and dipping it in a bucket of water one at a time. The oohs and ahs from the young'uns made it so fun. But it's just getting too hot to stay out there for that long. The middle child finds the rocks interesting in small doses, but not much more than that. The oldest is excited. And the 3-year-old thinks everything is "awesome." Even when it's not. LOL --matt

That's so cool to hear Matt, there's nothing better than seeing the world through the eyes of a small child. Everything is beautiful in their eyes, if only it could stay that way for them.

Nice batch, tex. The shape is great and very nice colors. I thinkk the polish depends on the hardness of the stone. I prefer agates or harder, and I use Cerium Oxcide, right after Tripoli, great results. Here's a list you might find useful www.utahrockhounds.com/tooelegem/tips/stonepolish.htmlcookie

I had not seen that list before. Thanks, cookie. I have to admit I'm a little leery of buying several different kinds of polish as it can get real expensive real quick. This hobby isn't cheap. I've already promised myself I would not buy rock, only materials. That promise gets harder and harder to keep when you keep seeing the great stuff others have. I'm interested in this CPP, but probably will end up experimenting with several over time. --matt

Good thinking Matt, I wish I had done that. I jumped right in and bought tripoli, cerium oxide, aluminum oxide and 1000 aluminum oxide grit. All I've been doing is using the ao 1000 and ao polish, the others just sit there, an expense that wasn't needed.
