o.k. guys maybe I don't really know the difference are the Galaxy wheels plated or sintered? They're plated, mohs.
Sintered wheels cost a left lung, but they'd probably outlast you and me, both.

Kingsley's Fall catalog lists 6" sintered 80 grits for $175.75 + postage. That's a huge price drop from what I paid for mine, a different brand now discontinued by Kingsley. With 6 mm. of diamond I think it's a no-brainer. That's about the same price as a plated Galaxy.

gemfeller I have been very pleased with diamond drills and burrs from THK, good to hear that they make good wheels too. I got some adapters and spacers from Christopher and plan to run 4 wheels on the genie, less weight and more space to work. Getting a 2nd unit for the coarser grits, something that'll run fresh water, either a stainless lortone arbor or a sphere products unit if Rod is still making them. Rod is still making them. I'm waiting on UPS delivery of mine. :-)

I worry about the quality of stuff from China and whether it would be balanced. It's a great price, though.

Here an example of my LapCraft Diamond blade Its 6" thin kerf blade. Unfortunately I either wasn’t gentle enough hand feeding the slab into the initial cut, and or, not using enough water. Getting the diamond plating hot, causing a small section to peeled off

6 inch galaxy alternative, Top (Lithuania), 8 inch jadecarver (6 inch are steel core 8 are available with plastic core). Nova wheel alternatives, johnsonbrothers. I bought a top but haven't mounted it. A friend in the NW uses the Lithuanian wheels and says they at least equal DP wheels for how long they last. I may get a set when we get the shop up and running. I loved my 80 grit from them. I have since gone sintered.

If you make your own sintered diamond wheels, are you self sintered?

They are unbranded, and I have strong suspicions that they are Chinese made, but they are well balanced and cut smoothly. Admittedly, I have not used other brands aside from Soviet era Paltova industrial wheels, so there is not much basis of comparison to other lapidary wheels, but I'm quite happy with them.

Thanks for the confirmation and the review. Maybe I'll try them next time I'm in the market for one. Just bought a new DP last year at our show, but my 220 is probably ready for retirement pretty soon.

If you make your own sintered diamond wheels, are you self sintered? Or perhaps self sintering? If done wrong, definitely off sinter.

If self-interred . . . most likely done wrong.
