My day built this tumbler when I was a kid Out of white oak it has held up only have to oil it once a month I started using it in 2009 it’s still turning Most people won’t take the time to build a tumbler like this Takes a bit of time to free the rods by adding a pulley belt and strong motor run it add oil till it frees up then move to the next rod The rods fit tight the motor just burns the wood a little enough for the rod to turn easily
Hey do you still have the pictures that were in this post? I am looking for inspiration on my tumbler build and would love to see them.
Hi. Newbie here. Looking for a downloadable version of this spreadsheet if available. Working on my first home built tumbler. Thanks.Â
There are many pulley calculators easily accessible online by just doing a quick google search, they are all similar to this one.
If you have a calculator and look at the numbers on this sheet you can reverse engineer all of the calculations pretty easy in excel as well. That’s what I did.
My latest build features a removable tooling cartridge. The end of the cabinet is removable and the mechanical portion slides out for maintenance.

I'm in the process of making a Rotary and, if it works the way I think I will, I'm using Heat Shrink tubes. There's plenty of grip when I put the barrel on and turn it a fews times.
Here's one I welded up a few years ago. I need to make up some proper barrels for it like what James has described in another thread.

Hola! Randy that's amazing! Did you ever do an official build thread on it? I'm wondering how this beautiful machine flew under the radar and didn't make it into the DIY hall of fame page

I haven't done a build description on it but it pretty much follows the same concepts already described here.
I originally built it to polish brass cartridges, but by the time I finished it I had already outgrown it so now I use Mr. Debur machines for brass. These will do a 55 gallon drum of brass at a time.

One of these days I'll give this guy a try for rocks. It might be too much of a good thing.
