Here's my entry: Oxaca Travertine from Mexico ( sometimes called Guadalupe Picture Jasper, but not really a jasper). 38mm round. Sorry for the tripod reflection on the stone. Just too bright outside today......Mel

Nice color on both those agate cabs! I don't have one quite like the second one with all the fortifications. Is it some kind of Mexican Crazy lace? First time I've seen Swirlstone ....really interesting and colorful too....mel

this is getting good trish! kd and sabre great looking cabs. mel that stone looks alot like the antelope jasper. is it sometimes called that or completely different?

I set this up for two weeks, but think I need to drop it to one. Didn't think I was going to get any takers. What do you all think? One week? Stefan, does that give you time to get your cab in? Trish

Kim: Different stones but the patterns are sometimes very similar. My stone is from the dolomite/travertine group and much softer than the Antelope Jasper which is sort of a silicified sediment. Oxaca ( pronounced wa ha ca) is in Southern Mexico whereas I believe the Antelope Jasper is from the Owyhee region on the Oregon/Idaho border.

Ahh sadly NO- Ummmm well I was rushing last night - to finish it up- I sanded my knuckle on the 220 belt and let the cab go for a ride under the wheel- smackaruni! I will graciously bow out this round as I will not be cabbing for the next couple of days- as my aggrivation with myself is just too great- I don't think there is much to salvage at this point- I broke in 3 pieces (all triangular- kinda strange) and they got tossed into the tumble pile!

awww, Stefan, what a shame you broke your stone....but you got to grind a little skin to get the best shine! (KIDDING!!)
sorry to hear about your bad luck, but the next one will be worth it!

Hi Stefan, So sorry about your cab...and your fingers. I haven't had a bit of a thumbnail on my right hand since I got my Genie, but the top of it stays well polished. It really shines! I don't know whether to end this Sept 1, which will be a week, or wait another week. If you want in, I can make it Sept. 7. Let me know what you think. Of course, it would be fun to just keep this going and someone put out another challenge about every week. If you don't want to get in on this one, I'll end it Sept. 1 and put it up for votes on Sept. @ Trish

Since Stephan's on the DL, here's a late inning sub for most colorful cab. THIS WAS DONE BY SANDSMAN1 (I only bought it off Kim's website) Mexican lace 20mm x 47mm Hope you're back grinding soon, Sands.
