I didn't take pictures of all the rocks. I'm saving my patients for the tumbling. I still have Botswana agate and Mexican lace agate to post. Stay tuned.

I'll be keeping an eye on that bloodstone. I love that stuff.
Not a tumbler, so I can't give any experience-based advice on how ready they are for promotion. based on what I've read in other threads, though, I sse some cracks (in numbers 3, 4, 5) that look like they could trap grit that would cause you grief in later stages.

I think they're making progress. I think they need to back into stage one again though...too many pits and fissures left.

Not bad so far, but I would give them a little more time. Tumbling takes a TON of patience. But it's worth it!

I'd like to see some input from some of the more experienced tumblers, but a lot of those stones are looking like they have "bruising" from high impact with the other stones during tumbling. If that's the case, I think the solution is more smalls to "cushion" during the tumble.
Again, I wouldn't act on what I said until a few more people with experience chime in...

I have a mix of ceramic media in the barrel. I added 8 tablespoons of 80 grit, don't know if that will make a difference.

This one is the Bloodstone -- actually Fancy Jasper. Bloodstone doesn't have the yellow in it.

I have a mix of ceramic media in the barrel. I added 8 tablespoons of 80 grit, don't know if that will make a difference. How big is your barrel? I usually have a loose and fast rule about grit, about one tablespoon of grit per pound of barrel. So, a 3lb barrel would get 3 tablespoons of grit and a 12lb barrel get 12 tbs of grit. Also how full do you fill the barrel? If there's too much space, it allows the rocks to fall further and have a bigger impact at the bottom of the barrel.

I have 6lbs barrels and yes I do the 1 for 1. I added 2 more to the Botswana to test results and see if it will remove the white marks. If anything I have the barrels too full, hope not, but I know there is plenty of material in the barrels.
