Those pictures were a great sharing. There is so much city it can be difficult to really get out in unbroken nature. The west has so much more. The East is too packed. I enjoyed the trip and felt the beauty. Thanks

Great trip report and photo's too James!
Living in CT I can only imagine what it's like to be able to self collect material like you did.
Thanks for taking me along!!

Beautifull work, are you going to sell any of the glass ??. Werent you going to knapp me a point for my grandson about a year or so ago ?? That pic of the truck looks like heaven to me in the wilderness.

Wow! Thanks for all the replies. I don't know where to begin. To answer some of the questions about the Flint Knapping, I haven't sold any of my work. I've only been doing it for about a year. I actually haven't even done any at all for the last 6 months. I will make a tutorial soon. For the question on pressure flaking, you really need to have a "rolled over" bi-face. If you don 't, the flakes will take a dive and hinge out. Pdwight, are you sure that I offered to make an arrowhead for you. Maybe it was Donwrob. He's the master knapper around here. Where has he been anyway??? Here are some pics of "the haul." I may part with some of it down the road. Left: black base obsidian (rainbow, sliver sheen, green sheen, midnight-lace, lizard skin, dacite and plain black) Middle: mahogany or red/black Far right: Pumpkin. A close-up of the Mahogany variety.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention; collecting is on BLM land and is open to the public.

Wow! You did bring back a load! That should keep you busy knapping for a few years. Steve

HOLY SHEEP DIP BATMAN! Was that truck bed riding the axels? I bet you had to take out a second mortgage to get back home! Beautiful stuff!
