I ordered a basket of quartz crystals from Jim Coleman mines in Hot Springs AR. I am extremely pleased with what they sent me.... this is right out of the basket dumped onto my screen this is after washing them off with a hose.... and this strainer is all small points and chips. Some of the points are almost one inch long and I can already see a few pairs of earrings in there... I now have those small points soaking in some cleaner. Will post a pic of those when they are all cleaned up. Pho

Pho, what are the little colored bits? Beads of some kind? Do you have a link to that mine?

gaetz you put them in oxalic acid to clean them. pho seems to have perfected this process and i'm still working on mine. how do you get the yellow/green off of them pho once they've been in the acid?

pho here they suggest using muriatic acid rockhoundingar.com/quartz/cleaning.htmlhere they talk about using vinegar then ammonia www.mamasminerals.com/lmrhfquartzclean.html then muriatic acid if that fails i'm going to try the vinegar method. i do not want to mess with the muriatic acid. i was dangerous enough with the oxalic acid. and though it will not burn your skin it does sting in cuts and scratches! kim

i'm scared of that muriatic acid method. i think i'm going to leave that alone. i don't think that's something i need to play with.
but i like that crock pot method. it needs to be used for something : ).
