Looking for advice. I have tried to wrap this 2.25” long cab twice, with no luck. Used half round sterling wire each time. The back is very flat. It is only a little under 1/8” thick at the girdle. Low dome. Photos do not show all of the colors of flash. Am now considering just gluing a bail on the upper, back side. Would prefer to wrap, but do not want to cover much of the flash. What do you think? Thanks.

Photos look much different here than they did on my lap top. They are washed out here. Do not show any of peach flash.

That should be doable. Did you mean to say that you are wrapping with half round? That should be for your bindings. Try using a square middle wire to ride along the narrow girdle and 2 round outside wires. Try 20 gauge or add 2 more for a 22 g bundle.

Thanks. I have round and half round 22 gauge. You should be able to do it with round 22. Make a bundle of 4 and try that. The square wire just helps to hug the girdle and keeps the bundle neater.

Honestly, if I had the stone then I would wrap it as shown in Picture #2, only upside down. I would turn it in to a "shield" of sorts, and try to get the wire to accent that idea. The shield idea. I would probably use beads on one of the lower angled sides too, so that I could add texture to it. I wrap almost nothing this large, but can tell you that I would use a 20 gauge on it myself. But then again, if I were you, then I wouldn't pay any attention to anything that I wrote anyway. Hehe. I hope it goes well.
