That little hole would be a perfect spot to insert a small faceted stone. How awesome would that look? OMG! I never thought of that!!! Great idea Robin! Great...something new I have to learn ASAP! LOL

jasoninsd Brian , others... I feel that I need to re-clarify something. “Autumn leaves” is not a trade name or anything official. A friend described brecciated jasper with that coloration that way, and after he passed, I have used the descriptor in his honor (in quotes) when referring to that material. In fact, I’m not 100% sure that the material can be properly called StoneCanyon jasper, as the coloration, to me, looks different than what came out of Parkfield, CA. It’s probably quite near, and some (including members of this board) do think it comes from there, but to me it looks more like Cayucos Creek material (less than 50 miles away, as the crow flies, so it comes from pretty much the same formation). I usually refer to it as “Stone Canyon-type.” My apologies that “‘Autumn leaves coloration’ Stone-Canyon-type brecciated jasper” is a bit of mouthful, but I don’t want anyone to be or feel misled.

Thanks for clarifying this Stephan! I did Google Autumn Leaves Jasper...and there were three links that came up which showed the same material. One on Etsy, which lead nowhere. And then there were two cabs of yours pictured! This is probably one of my favorite materials because of the way it looks...the brecciated physical nature and the tones in the colors... OMG! I never thought of that!!! Great idea Robin! Great...something new I have to learn ASAP! LOL You’ll master it... in a week. Thanks for the compliment. No pressure though...right?? LOL

Thanks for the clarification. My brain is already close to capacity so thinking of it in terms of what it looks like rather than a mouthful of less descriptive words is far more helpful to me. I’m also unlikely to bring it up casually in conversations, so any confused looks will be attributable to my normal bumbling self.

jasoninsd LOL. The one on Etsy was probably one of the ones I sold there as well. And, even there, I explained it, but the description probably no longer exists. Yup, no pressure

Those look fantastic. I keep going back and forth between the wonderstone and prairie agate, I just can't pick a favorite. Top notch quotes too!

Between the Prairie Agate and the Wonderstone, I lean more toward the Wonderstone...only because I know how prolific the Prairie Agates are around here. The Wonderstone on the other hand...I've never seen patterning like this before. I still have a decent sized slab left and am holding onto it for now...maybe saving it for a special occasion...or maybe just until I get bored of seeing it sit there! LOL
