Nice job. Very representative of the material. Thank you so much! I like how this one has a little bit of a lot of different things going on! Yup that's the stuff. That would make me pause and take some pix for sure! Outstanding Thanks Stefan! I really didn't know what all was going on until I got to the 500 stage and looked at it through the magnifying lens...I think I gasped a little! LOL Niiiiiice! Love the close up details. It has so much going on and what a great polish! Thanks Tela! I have a tendency to love "busy" patterns in stones...and this one delivered for me way more than I deserved! that a real fine grind on a good rock Thanks Ed! It's nice to see you posting again...I missed you! That’s a nice one! I’ve cut one dry head agate nodule the size of a baseball, unfortunately the thing was almost entirely matrix and had an area of agate the size of a dime! How much useable material do you get out of the rough you cut? Thank you bunches! I've seen some Teepees with the same problem you ran into with your Dryhead. I actually picked up about 2 pounds of Dryhead labeled as "tumble material", but knew I was going to slab what I could. Each piece definitely had enough fortification showing to make it worth it. I only got a couple small slabs out of each piece...but probably enough for 16 cabs. Most quarter sized or less. This one was the biggest cab I'll get out of the batch. I have another Dryhead that's supposed to show up Monday - most likely. It's about baseball sized...so I might end up with the same issue you ran into. I'll keep you updated on it once I cut it... Thanks Mike! I really liked the colors in this one too.

Wow! That’s a nice one. I love that stuff. Fortifications, speckles and orbs together are something else, and you did a great job.
You've been holding out on us....

Super nice! I always liked Dryheads because the matrix takes a good polish a lot of times. A lot of smooth rounded Dryheads are duds. When buying dryheads look for the rough surfaced ones with jagged bumps or ridges. Myself, I never purchased any that did not show a little exterior fortification pattern. When I went to the mines to dig, I also noticed there were two distinct nodule layers. The uppermost had a lot of lacy examples with creamy matrix and ones with fractures and voids and were often rejects. There were some awesome agates in this layer but few and far between. The lower layer was the best with the chocolate colored matrix but even though I found some honking big ones that were nice smooth rounded nodules, most all those were solid brown matrix when cut. The dig at that tine was $35 for a twenty four hours period and in summer the days lasted till like 11PM. You could keep as much as you found in that period but man, with four to five feet of overburden, that was about the toughest rock dig ever. Brought home everything but probably i/3 were duds.

Thanks Robin! I know, sometimes less is more...not the words I necessarily live by as I can be very verbose at times! LOL I should have taken better pics (if I could LOL) - what looks like surface fractures in the top left of that first cab in the first pic - aren't...they're healed and below the surface. This one is probably one of the best polishes I've gotten so far...one where I could read the writing on the lightbulb in the reflection (deciding factor per Vince! )

All those orbs and fortifications are outstanding. Thanks for the close-ups of the orbs. Those are really cool pics!

Yeah, I don’t know that I can say it any better than hummingbirdstones . as for the heel... challenge accepted. I just worked a prairie agate heel today. Happy with the results, except for one spot I need to fix. Some ends are challenging, others are already domed.

It dawned on me that you may have taken my comment as though I was wanting you to say more than the 'nuf said...I wasn't...I thought the 'nuf said, summed it up pretty well! It looks like there's a really nice cab hiding in this one. Fantastic! Not the colors in the Dryhead that I worked at all. Really nice cab, Jason! Thanks Mike! I'll be curious to see those Dryheads up close and personal at that auction. I'm hoping there's some hiding in the rough stuff. Your have to be kidding. Your stuff is amazing! Thanks Stefan! I've been blessed with some amazing material having been given to me...and very lucky to have found some...and REALLY lucky to have stumbled upon some hidden gems in some purchases. This one falls into the last category. Yeppers that's a good'un all right. Again really cool details in the macros. Thanks Mel!
