I use both rotary and vibe tumblers. I have my rotary tumblers running all the time with weekly clean outs. Some rocks move on and some continue rolling until they're ready. Once I have enough to fill the vibe, the remaining stages are done there. Nothing will shape the rocks like a rotary. The vibe doesn't do much shaping but polishes the rocks very quickly. That said, you can do it all in a rotary. I would start there and perhaps add a vibe once you get the hang of polishing.
If you can swing it, I'd get both. I bought my vibe about a month after my rotary because I'm impatient!

Once again thanks for the responses guys! I was wondering, would yo recommend instead of buying a rotary tumbler getting a Lot O vibrating? or is it better to start with rotary and then make the upgrade? I would go for the rotary for the beginning. As was already mentioned, you can go from rough to shiny stones in a rotary, that are nicely rounded/shaped. If you're looking at most of the tumbled pictures here and want yours to eventually look the same, they are done in a rotary.

Most use rotary for the first step then vibe for the next 3. I'm also a rotary only (so far) and recommend that you start off like that also. You can get great results in a small barrel.

Alright then it seems crystal clear that rotary is the way to begin! I'll start looking and hopefully getting one soon, but i think it'll be a while considering how hard it is to get one here in Chile. I'll also think whether i get the 33b Lortone or a bigger barrel or i build one and get the barrels only, that seems like a fun project that i will have to consider, but I'll also move to another country relatively soon so i don't know! so many things to consider haha.
However extremely happy and thankful for all your kind responses!
Best regards to you all!
