I know it's NOT what you wanted to do. However, it's a "better now than later" kind of scenario. I would have done the same thing...maybe shed a slight tear though having done it once it was over! That being said...I can see the logic in brotherbill 's thinking. I haven't done any stabilizing yet...but I will get into it at some point. I have some material set to the side that I won't work yet because I know I'll eventually stabilize it. I will agree with people who say you should disclose it as being stabilized if putting it up for sale... EDIT - That material is freaking gorgeous too! Yeah. Suser gorgeous, some of my favorite stuff that I've had my hands on. I think I'll still get some decent cabs, fingers crossed! That slabette on the right in your last pic...the section on the left of that piece should make a KILLER looking cab!

That slab would get smacked on the bench before I picked up a Sharpie, Mike. Any cracks that survive get inked first . . . AVOID. Good luck, hope this one doesn’t spoil the homecoming. : ) That’s the way I learned to do it. Best to get the heartbreak (or rip off the bandaid) early. With Stone Canyon and MHPJ, I rarely draw anything. I smack or drop the slab, and the pieces become preforms for freeforms. If it actually stays intact, then I draw (maybe).

Back to the drawing board. Literally.
Oh well, better now than later...
No drawing board needed. The rock is already telling you what to do.

Hope you can still work some of this rock, it's awfully pretty. Inspiration is a strange thing. Seeing the successes and failures here in the forums often sparks me to try something.
