The Lortone was only in its 3rd week of use when the motor just quit. It was the first tumbler I bought. It wasn't overfilled. I guess I just got a lemon.

I just ordered a new qt-12 from Kingsley North. I hope the Lortone quality hasn’t gone down.

Three week service life on a rock tumbler is unacceptable. Contact the seller again. They need to make that sale right. Was the tumbler used?
This is the coolest rock forum ever. Glad to see you posting stuff here. I can’t wait to see photos of your work

Tumblers are meant to be run 24/7. Our rotaries never get a break, not even unplugged for cleanouts. We run two Thumler Model B's and a Lortone QT-66 all of the time. Our Thumler AR-2 and two pound Nat. Geo. get used as needed. All are still running fine though our 2 1/2 year old model B is slowing down a bit and due for some TLC. We are not unique in running our tumblers 24/7/365. Do you still have the Thumler's? Replacement parts are available. What excactly is wrong with the Lortone. Does the motor/pulley move at all? Don't know if you are going to do better than a Lortone or Thumler's in this size range. If budget is not a consideration look at Covington. rockindad, I am interested in tumbling only 3-5 pounds at a time. I do not still have any of the tumblers that broke. I had used the Thumbler for about a month when the top of the barrel came off during tumbling and made a huge mess. It didn't shut off when this happened, just kep running. On the Lortone neither the motor or the pulley ran. They had me send them a video of it and I think they offered to send me a new machine but not a new barrel and I wanted both, because I figured if one part was defective another part might be too. They werre not very nice about it

Glad to see you posting stuff here. I agree it's unacceptable, which is why I didn't want to bother with them or their product. It was the 1st tubler I bought and I just figured it was a cheap brand

denversue If you want to tag members, put an @ before their name. Lortone tumblers are awesome and should last for years.

I thought I replied to you Starguy but now I don't see it. The Lortone just stopped, both the motor and the pulley. I had only used it for a few weeks, and I figured it was just a bad brand. I hadn't done any comparison shopping, just bought the first one i saw on the Home Science Tools website

You shouldn’t need to buy a new tumbler. I tend to buy stuff from therockshed or Kingsley North. I’ve been to the rock shed in person. Shawn is truly cool.

Lortone makes good tumblers. Send pictures of what you think the problem is.
