Part of me feels guilty that I'm tumbling it and one you guys aren't making some killer cabs out of it...I'm just not there yet. There will be so much rock lost, but man if it polishes well...well I guess it's worth the temporary guilt. Those are some nice looking big tumbles! I always feel a little guilty when I throw something nice in the tumbler. I’m sure better things can be done with some of the law rocks, but it is also fun to see how they tumble. It would be interesting to see who wastes more of the rock, a tumbler or a cabber.

Brian Thanks, I think it's going to be nice. I'm with you, those cabbers at least have some little scraps to tumble at the end, ours is just dust in the mud

It would be interesting to see who wastes more of the rock, a tumbler or a cabber. That's a very interesting question. I tend to think that, for the most part, cabbers waste more rock than tumblers. When slabbing a piece, you have the wasted material caused by the cut of the saw blade which is generally 1/8" multiplied by however many slabs are taken. Generally, you'll have the wasted end cuts or window cuts - not always...but quite often. Then you have the wasted material within each of those slabs that isn't used or wanted for cabs. Any "scraps" could be used in tumbling, but only as "smalls", so they're likely going to waste away to nothing anyway. For the large piece that Son Of Beach is tumbling (the one with the healed fractures), I would almost bet anything he's going to keep MORE of that rock intact than if a cabber were to have gone at that one... Way to pose the intriguing questions Brian!
