Only got a few done today. I'm tired from the Halloween festivities. This one is a mystery. It looks like a flower garden to me. The only thing I can think of is Stone Canyon jasper, but it's enough different that I don't think it is. Beautiful colors and a little hematite. (healed fractures)
Indonesian pet coral- very high dome.
Needles Blue Gem silica. Sorry for the bad picture. It's actually pretty nice with lots of teal blue. This was a wedge shaped piece that broke off. 46mm
Sugilite and bustamite (with manganese). This was a gorgeous slab. This is my last piece and not the best, but I like it. The colors played with the camera. Not quite so saturated.
Very rare NV Betty Crocker Fudge Swirl. Yes, that is the name. I love the rich brown color. Called a jasper, but probably a rhyolite that polished really well.
Just playing around with this little piece of Kambaby. I don't know what this cut is called, but I like it.

I like the natural colored coral (not heat treated).
Do you keep notes on your slabs / preforms? If not, I am quite impressed that you remembered that #4 is "Sugilite and bustamite (with manganese)."
The great thing about your cab posts is I discover new materials every time. The bad thing is -- when I go looking for them -- I can't find them for sale anywhere. One of these days I'm going to set up a bunch of Ebay alerts for all the hard-to-find materials that catch my eye.
I recently made a Montana agate cab with the dome profile of you last one. I'll post a photo. I, too, was wondering if that sort of dome as a name.

Really nice cabs! I love all the exotic materials you used. They're beautiful. Thank you! I have a bin of preforms that I am trying to clear out. A lot of variety so I won't get bored.

I put off cabbing it for the longest time because it was so thick. That was a lot of grinding!
Every time I buy a slab, I save the page in a folder (I have over 1100 pages!). I sometimes write the names on them in pencil, but mostly I TRY to remember them. The sugilite and bustamite is easy to remember. They come from a manganese mine in Wessels S. Africa, along with Richterite. That slab was mostly Richterite. The slab itself didn't look that impressive until wet.

Similar to your kambaby OJ, but perhaps larger (40mm x 30mm). This took an inordinate amount of time to grind, sand, and polish given that I had to polish the back, too. The things I'll do for good dendrites. Beautiful! Yeah, mine is considerably smaller. I bet you were grinding for a while. Mine got a little wonky - not quite as hard as a MT Aggie. There is a name for that cut, I just don't know what it is... tablet? baguette? dunno?
