I started early today and cabbed til 7:30. I went through a bunch of stuff sitting around waiting for me to fix and some that have waited long enough having been dopped forever.
Quickie pics This chrysoprase was a big gemmy pear. Like an idiot, I hit it was 100k and overheated it. A big ol crack opened up. The top of the pear had to go. I wouldn't have bothered, but I think it's a really nice piece.
I posted the original of this some time ago. It had a real cruddy section that had to be ground out. So, a big oval became my (apparently) go to shape for fixes. A stichtite that I broke the tip off of. This stuff is crazy soft, so this was a bit of a challenge. Cotton candy agate that had to be reshaped. I didn't like the preform I cut. I think this was from miket . This has been waiting a long time for me to do. I love this red jasper with blue agate. I don't have much left. It's from WA. Pardon the hair at the bottom.
Indian green moss agate. There is some wisps of red oddly enough. This is much nicer in person. I bought a lot of Indian moonstones. This was a badly cracked pear that needed fixing. The regrind improved it. It went from a blue moonstone to a rainbow moonstone. The color and rainbow roll across the whole face. Very pretty, but you can't really appreciate it without a video and I'm too tired. I've had this Marra Mamba forever. The rest of the slab fell apart and I figured this would do the same, but it held up.
You might remember when I posted this. Well, I broke it! Damn!
Now it looks like this. Very colorful still. Even the girdle has lots of color.
This was a small piece that sat on my bench forever. I was gonna stabilize it, but decided to just rough it out and see how stable it was. Turns out it is pretty hard and stable. Very, very little undercutting which was a pleasant surprise. 43mm
I love fluorite, but I hate cabbing it. It's so soft and slow to polish. These will be earrings- hence the shape. Pardon the dust and stuff.
Most of these were a challenge in one way or the other. My favorite piece of the day was a cab for the contest. It really tested my nerves. No pictures, yet. Those will come on the contest page.

Those are all great Tela. I think chrysoprase is one of my Top 3 favorites and I mourn your loss! Such a pretty stone! I just HATE when that happens.

Tela, these are just amazingly beautiful! However...whatever material this one is...it's off the freaking charts gorgeous! Is that an Australian Boulder Opal?

Bravo Tela! You are a real inspiration! Thank you, Evan. Well, I hope I inspired people to work on those pesky stones that sit there and nag.

Gorgeous, Tela. Such fantastic colors first thing in the morning! Jason beat me to it, I was going to ask what the Australian Koroit opal was. That is definitely my favorite of this bunch, really awesome!

That is definitely my favorite of this bunch, really awesome! Thanks, Mike. I was afraid the photos would look doctored, but, in actuality, it was, indeed, a very colorful group. The fluorite is spectacular. My daughter will love them. She has a pendant of the same material. I'm going to try to cab today, too, while the weather holds.

Pattern is important to me and I prefer the recut. There are always decisions about what to include and a fracture helps with the decision.

If these were candy, I'd have a hard time not consuming the entire bowl!

These are all very spectacular. The Marra Mamba is a nice piece. I've never seen it before, but I like it! I'll second the fluorite as being superb. Thank you for sharing.
