I only got 4 hours sleep last night. I wasn't gonna cab, but it got to almost 80 today. I know I would kick myself if I didn't. Took all my energy, but I got a few done. An Australian Royal Rhodonite or Imperial, I forget. The hot pink is like gel. The surface is a little sugary and porous, but it took a great shine.
Gold and red gembone. Nice size. Super glossy scenic amy sage. I was talking to jonathan about amy sage which made me look up mine. In 2013, I bought many large, high quality slabs for an average of 10 a slab. This was one of the few preforms that I had left. A broken off piece of MHP jasper. I love the healed fracture. Don't know why, but I do. Unfortunately, the light tent won't pick up on the hematite laced throughout this chrysocolla, azurite and shattuckite. So, the stone is overall a little darker, but not much. Indonesian petrified palm root. It started to get a little punky as I finished, so there are some pits. Inside that black flame is pyrite. Nice. Red gem bone And a teeny tiny little TeePee that I just felt like doing. After I took this picture, I saw that I need to tighten it up a little. This is actually a freeform. No template. Sonora Sunrise is so soft, sometimes it's hard to control the grind. It's a quick fix. This is some of my favorite material. You can't really see in the pic, but in the red are some bright orange splotches.
Thanks for looking and putting up with my posts. It'll be cold soon...

LOL) Thanks, Jason. I guess I'm a little self conscious about spamming the board. I don't see it as spamming. There's a ton of us "newbies" who love seeing the work of more experienced members. I've had conversations with several members and we're constantly commenting on how we'd LOVE to see more things (cabs, wire wraps, tumbles) posted from some of the more experienced members who don't seem to post much anymore. I get it there's tons of archives...but it's still fun to see more things being posted. Not meaning to sound like I'm ranting...take it more of a begging tone...but look at the wire wrap section. It's been pretty much Mike and I "spamming" that forum for the last 8-12 months...with a few exceptions. That's just my thoughts...after a LOT of coffee this morning! LOL

Hard to pick favorites in this group. I can see why you like that Sonora Sunrise Yeah, it can be a pain to work with sometimes. (Polishing usually means orange peel.) But the results are fantastic. So bright!

Thanks for looking and putting up with my posts. It'll be cold soon... LOVE this one, metallic and starry. You cab outside? While all of our tumbling happens in our basement, our material breakdown happens outside. As I type this it is snowing out there, reminding me that we do not have nearly enough material broken down to make it through the winter.

Thanks! I think you are seeing the quartzy sparkles. It isn't really sparkly, just "sugary".
I have a real nice metal dop to use with glue, but my hands still get cold in the water. I cab inside, but we don't keep it too warm inside.

Glad to see your grinding again. Too cold where I'm at now, but it changes. I work outside, standing so I can't do long sessions. I can do a few cabs with a lot of breaks for my hands to get warm.

Thanks, Steven. I don't have too many days left, but we generally have a warm spell before the cold sets in hard.

That rhodonite is gorgeous in hand. The shape is a freeform triangle. I was never really great at geometry. My triangle is leaning a bit.
