Settings/general/about Hope that helps!! Thanks -- I'll check that. Meanwhile I've searched on-line and think it's compatible. I may even be able to upgrade to a higher IOS.

It's more helpful than the other sites I've found.
Your new phone should be at least IOS 15. I just saw on mine that the latest update is 15.1.1. Mine is 15.0.2 currently. I have the auto update on.

Thanks Robin. I've verified that it came originally with IOS 12.0. It just had an update and I'm still trying to find the specs in the phone itself. But if it's only 12 that's good enough for the video app I'm going to download. ETA: For some reason your link doesn't work on my computer.

I think I accidentally had a space after it. Do it from my post. You're reply will still be the wrong one. I just tested it and it works now.

Congrats, rockjunquie . My wife was a legacy phone user for much longer than I thought she would be, but she's loved her smartphones since she got it. She, too, was a Galaxy tablet user when I got her the phone, so it made the transition a bit easier for her. I've been an Android user since the first phones came out and have been completely happy. Shoot me a PM (or a text, LOL) if you have questions. PS, get a good case if you haven't already. I like Spigen as I don't want a thick case like Otterbox. With today's glass, you really don't need a screen protector, IMHO, unless it's going to be carried loosely with a bunch of other items that are metal. I don't know your phone, but if it has an on-screen fingerprint sensor, you might have some issues with a screen protector. Have fun! I ended up getting a thin otter case. The phone comes with a screen protector, which is nice. I hope I make the transition as well as your wife did.
Thanks for the encouragement. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

have you got it- yet, Tela -- or is it to be soon ? as a matter- I'd like to know if it does can codes ? mine is Galaxy A12 Economical model I suppose so that may explain the code deal as usual I just went into this thing blindly Went AT&T Another old employer Which I really enjoyed They are not the open user friendly company they used to be they know what there doing-- and treat their clients thusly You don’t have a problem We are in complete control ... I haven't gotten it, yet, but I'll keep that in mind.
I went with Boost Mobile. I used to pay for the grandkids' phones so I'm more used to them- plus they are cheap. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Congratulations Tela and it's about damn time ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) I have the S20 Ultra but I don't know what the differences are. When I got this one new in 2020 it took me a few days to detoxify it - literally. There was a lot of preloaded crap from Samsung and Tmobile and Google popping up all over the place. It takes a while but most of that stuff can be turned off and disabled. The best piece of advice I can offer is become thoroughly acquainted with the Apps list and in particular the notification privileges and access permissions. On my phone only a very select list of maybe three to five apps have permission to send me ANY notifications of any kind - every other app has notifications turned off. I also go down the apps list regularly and disable all access permissions (camera, microphone, contacts etc.) and force them to stop running if I'm allowed to. Many of the apps installed by Samsung are not able to be disabled even if they are worthless garbage I'll never use - those I do my best to force stop and block all access permissions. Once you have stabilized it it will be fun to own, I promise ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Thanks! Yeah, sometimes it takes awhile, but I eventually get there. LOL
I expect to spend a day detoxifying. I'm very familiar with doing it for computers. I also know the absolute necessity of it.

I got my wife the Samsung s21 earlier this year. I think yours has the same or similar cameras. If so, they take very good cab photos, especially in natural light. Get to know the camera app -- how to focus on a specific spot, how to manually set white balance, and how to do a little basic editing on the phone (cropping, contrast, saturation, white balance, etc...) You are going to love having a cell phone for the purpose of snapping a photo and getting it into a forum post, all in 60 seconds or less. Get a huge micro SD card if you haven't already -- at least 128gb or 256gb. They are cheap and a great place to save photos and videos with filling up the memory on the phone. Get one that can record data fast enough for the highest resolution video that your phone can record. The hold SD speed standards were something like "Class 4" "Class 10" etc... I don't know the names of the newer, faster standards, but the bottom line is that all SD cards have a limit of how fast you can read and write to them. You want one fast enough to keep up with the best quality video your phone can record. Finally, get a good case that protects the edges of the screen. Yup, I ordered the case and 256 chip at the same time. I'm really glad this phone takes a chip. That was a must.
Yes, I will spend some time getting to know the camera. I'm familiar with camera functions, so it should be pretty easy.

gemfeller, Hope you get it all sorted out. My grandkids have iPhones. I don't like the proprietary nature of it, but they love theirs.

Truth. The first thing I did when I got my phone home was to open up the settings and start turning all that stuff off and disabling, location, notifications, etc. on stuff I don't have a need for. Voice activation and Siri spying were the first things I turned off. There's still stuff I haven't found yet that will need to be turned off (even in the camera!) that I'll find.

One of the cool things I’ve discovered with the tablet/phone is: I’ve participated in Library program of special classes through an application called Web-X
I've taken 2- one hour long presentations One on Turquoise the other on Medieval Manuscripts
Pretty neat
The one on Turquoise the lady kept showing Hohokam jewelry w/a combination of Turquoise, Jet, and Coral
Taking questions at the end I posted this question.
Do you know the source of the Jet Where its from?
The lady was very knowledgeable and replied: good question. I don’t know I’ll have to look into it !
O and as a side note:
I stopped at Pueblo Grande Museum asking about if the Hohokam utilized the quartz from that peak I discovered?
The man was very knowledgeable and talkative Best he knew there wasn’t much- if any- Quartz in the museum's collection
He did escalate the question via e-mail Hopefully will get a reply to that & this gent will peruse RTH and join !

Samsung is supposed to have one of the better cameras. iPhone cameras suck! I have an iPhone because work is paying for it. I used to have a work phone and a personal one. When the personal one tried to catch on fire while charging, I never replaced it, and I REALLY do not miss having two phones. The personal phone was an Android, and I really did like that better, but if I’m not paying, I’m not going to argue.
Glad to know you have the one for traveling.

Well, I got the phone, case and chip. I'm sick (the damn Crud!) so I've had some time to go over it. Getting familiar with it, but have a ways to go. Need to finish hardening it. As for the phone- I like it. It has a good feel. I've been watching some YT vids on tips and tricks. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) The pictures seem to be pretty good, but I don't know if they are better or easier than my cameras.
