Shipping will run past Christmas- it was on back order, but I'll be getting it in Jan. I'm sure I'll have questions after I get it, but for now I was wondering - is there a consensus about which sealer is best? I know Paul fencejumper is liking that Art Resin and I am leaning towards that because it is non toxic. I have Hxtal and Opticon, but I haven't tried cactus juice which is next on my list behind Art Resin. What do you guys think? What do you use and why and also is Cactus Juice the same as water glass? So many products. *sigh*

Congrats Tela! I'm very excited for you! That's definitely a piece of equipment on my own wish list! I'll be watching to see who says what about which products...

Well, I had it on my wish list at AZ. It went out of stock, so I deleted it. I didn't know that DH saved it and when it came back in stock, he grabbed it.
I can't link cause I don't remember exactly which one it was. However, it is 5 gallon and it has the inlet on the side of the tank instead of on the top which is what I wanted. Comes with a pump.
I can't wait!

As you know the nice thing with CJ is you can have the slab submerged so after vacuum, the juice is forced in, and you can rescue what didn’t go in the slab, since you remove the slabs and activate the CJ with heat. Good luck!! Sounds fun!

You know you are very excited about getting a vacuum pot for Christmas.
I thought I'd try the same thing with my wife. She wasn't as "ecstatic" when I told her Santa was bringing her a vacuum and a pot for Christmas! I don't get why she didn't seem as pleased! LOL

Cactus Juice is a resin and water glass is Sodium Silicate (metasilicate Na ₂SiO ₃, sodium )
Cactus Juice Stabilizing Resin is a premium, professional grade, heat cured resin for impregnating wood and other porous materials to make them harder, more resistant to moisture, and to add integral color with dyes.

Cactus will stabilize. So you can cut crumbly stuff
It is good for porous material Like parrot wing etc.
Art resin is a sealer For hairlines and bigger…
The chamber works better With cactus off the shelf, The art resin must be thinned Before you put it in the chamber There is a process I use When your ready hit me up. One finger typing is killing me smalls😊✔️

I have a desire to try CJ so that would get my vote.
As a side note I am thinking about dusting off my DIY vacuum pot and deciding if I either want to use it or sell it.

I lean towards cactus juice with a vacuum, based on info from those who use it with wood. haven't used it myself. Without vacuum, just preheating the rock, I have only used Opticon other than a few less than satisfactory experiences with hot stuff. With Opticon I was taught to put a warm/hot rock in warmed resin for several hours, then remove and generously brush on the hardener with a disposable brush, so the resin was reusable. I have only used it a few times, and am of the opinion that it must be revealed to a buyer if used with something you plan to sell.

If I were to sell any with resin, I would state that it was stabilized. Some things really need it.

If softer than the soft being stabilized, wouldn't they undercut when cabbing? Finally, do rocks sealed or stabilized with these products take a high polish? I'm sorry for so many questions. I would appreciate a response from anyone with knowledge or experience. Thank you!

I always thought cactus juice was something entirely different — the bottle with the worm at the bottom. Then people drink the bottle down, eat the worm, get stupid (and sick) and blame it on the worm.
