As always, thanks for taking a gander and comments and critiques are always welcome. Pics 1-2: Chrysocolla in Quartz. Yes, the two colors really are that different between these two cabs! I love the colors in this material, but wish the surface wasn't "textured"...but it's the nature of the beast. Pic 1 Pic 2 Pics 3-5: Chevron Amethyst. This is very finicky material. It was definitely brittle and does have a tendency to have small pits or fractures. The second cab was an experiment. It has a super high dome on it. I tried to show it in pic 5. Pic 3 Pic 4 Pic 5 Pics 6-8: Black Skin Agate. I freaking love this material! The whole time I'm working in it, I kept thinking of it as an "upscale" Montana Agate. It seems to works just like Montana...but doesn't have the tendency for fractures like a Montana Agate. Talk about it taking a super polish! (That's me patting the material on the back, not myself! LOL) Pic 6 Pic 7 Pic 8

Really like the Black Skin picture with the plume. Is this material from India?

Really like the Black Skin picture with the plume. Is this material from India? Thanks Victor! Yes, the Black Skin Agate is from India. The #6 cab is pretty decently sized at 46mm tall. I didn't want to lose any of that fortification pattern...

Holy crud! Those look awesome. I was gonna say "chrysocolla (however you spell it!) Is on my "to cab" list then I saw the amethyst. I love cabbing quartzes, especially when they hold together. That agate looks beautiful. Great shine and everything. Stuff like this inspires me to desert my family for hours at a time lol!

And there's something about the Chrysocolla too. I just ordered some Copper Complex that should be here today or Monday. I look forward to working that big time! Jason Stellar and amazing work. Love the blackskin agate Thanks Evan! I'm going to have to get some more Black Skin Agate pretty soon. The Rock Shed had some when I was up there last time, but the website shows sold out. No, I didn't buy them out!

Edit: back from Google. That looks awesome! I've got some small turquoise I inherited that looks sort of like the chrysocolla. I would never work it though!

Here's a shot of the Copper Complex. It has Malachite and another piece has Malachite and Azurite...I'm not too sure how much it has in it though.

Off to ebay I go! Copper complex is beautiful. I am definitely going to look for higher quality slabs now that I'm more into the hobby. When I was just starting.

When I first started, I focused on the most "quantity" of rough for my dollar...but now I'm preferring to watch for the best "quality" for my dollar. Although...I do sometimes snag a quantity deal if the price is right. I think that allows for "cherry picking" through the material.

I'm not saying I won't pass up a quantity deal if there is one! 😂 I am kind of low budget when it comes to rocks so high quality and low price don't really corospond.if it looks good, can cab good, and is low priced, it's mine! 😆

I have at least one bucket(maybe two) of the Black Skin Agate and a few other pieces laying around. They were under an old workbench and my late friend said they had been there for a good many years. Suppose I need to get a few more of the pieces in the cutting queue. If I can find the polished slabs I have and the nice polished half I will get some pictures posted.
You are right about the shine, they must be as hard as Montana's, just without the fractures.

Beautiful cabs my friend! Is that a really high dome you have there or are you just happy to see me?

More shiny gems! I think I like the amethyst best. I have never had any that wasn't full of issues- mostly big voids.

I just kept shaking my head while working them...I was so surprised at the similarity. Beautiful cabs my friend! Is that a really high dome you have there or are you just happy to see me? Thanks my friend! Definitely a high dome! LOL - The pictures don't do the height justice. It looks a lot taller in person...like borderline too much when viewed from the side...but when viewed straight on, it really allows the "deep" look to the crystalline (?) structure. More shiny gems! I think I like the amethyst best. I have never had any that wasn't full of issues- mostly big voids. Thanks Tela! There would have been another one posted if I hadn't ground it down to a flat...and then just decided to pitch it when I couldn't grind past an ugly void. If it would have been one that visually worked, so be it...but this one was just plain ugly! LOL - It felt good to throw it in the trash! LOL As always, thanks for taking a gander and comments and critiques are always welcome. Pics 1-2: Chrysocolla in Quartz. Yes, the two colors really are that different between these two cabs! I completely agree with the favorite! It's mine too. It's the one I'm proudest of...it's the biggest and has a relatively low dome...so there was a little work to get the middle part scratch free.

Worked hard to not repeat myself. Helped you didn't have those otherworldly, super sexy velvet obsidian cabs posted. Thanks for that ..... Maybe.

I'm super pleased with how those Amethyst cabs turned out! I've got some more preforms of Amethyst cut, but I might wait a bit more to work those...they cause me heartburn! LOL - I do have two Velvet Obsidians and one Mahogany Obsidian preforms on dop...I just haven't worked them. They're not quite ready...they're all divas and won't come out of their dressing rooms yet! LOL

That one is a keeper Gorgeous! Thanks Chad! I think that one's kind of special as well. My wife said it looks like "fish skin". I gave her a quizzical look when she said that...she replied, "I mean in a good way." - Whatever that means! LOL
