No, I'm not talking about a convicted felon doing a Mobile Home Park Jitterbug! LOL Being that yesterday was still on the cold side, I decided to work some material that came from California...not necessarily "originated" from California, but all this material came from stephan ! Thanks Stephan! PICS 1-3: Ocean Jasper "B" Grade. Stephan was generous to send me a slabette of this a LONG time ago. It's been sitting there waiting for me to have the confidence to work it! LOL - The third one is one of the lowest domed cabs I've done. The girdle is 2.61mm and the overall height is 3.85mm. These took awhile as they're all low domed and had to work the scratches out of the middle. They took awhile on the 280 wheel. PICS 4-10: Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper. The first two cabs were end cuts which turned out great. The last three ended up without any actual poppies. I couldn't tell until after the initial grind what the pattern would look like...but I thought I might as well finish them at that point. Like a lot of MHPJ, there are some fractures, but everything turned out more solid than I thought it would be. As always, thanks for taking a gander and comments and critiques are always welcome. PIC 1 PIC 2 PIC 3 PIC 4 PIC 5 PIC 6 PIC 7 PIC 8 PIC 9 PIC 10

Beautiful shine! Even without the poppies, I find the last few to be quite lovely. The polish level you are getting on your cabs is amazing.

Great work, my friend! Let's see, now that you've got cabbing, polishing and wrapping down, what are you going to do next? Better start silversmithing...

Wow! Those reds really pop! I like 4 best. Your polishes are so beautiful, Jason! Thanks Tela! I'm with you...I think I'm leaning toward #4 being the favorite of the bunch. I like #3. Looks like a cartoon monster winking Thanks Nate! Best I could come up with: I like stuff off the beaten path, this one fits the bill Thanks Chad! I can see why Ocean Jasper is so sought after. This stuff polishes amazingly well! Beautiful shine! Even without the poppies, I find the last few to be quite lovely. The polish level you are getting on your cabs is amazing. Thanks Brian! Credit goes to the new wheels for the polish...I'm just putting the rock to the surface of them. I really like 8 and 9...10 is "ok"...but 8 and 9 really do have some depth of color to them. They might be a hair darker in person...which really makes them look pretty cool. Great work, my friend! Let's see, now that you've got cabbing, polishing and wrapping down, what are you going to do next? Better start silversmithing... Thanks my friend! I can honestly say I have no desire to start silver smithing. I will say, if I don't start wrapping some of these pretty soon, my wife's going to have to learn a how to wire-wrap! (That's not gonna happen! LOL)

I like the poppiless jaspers. Thanks Beth! Like I was saying to Brian, they're a smidge darker in person...so I think there wouldn't be too much ketchup and mustard coloring for Pat! LOL

#1 and #3 really charm me. My eyes keep going back to those subtle, beautiful details. And that shine...

Wow! Nice work on those, Jason. You made some marginal material look good. I wish I had better OJ to send. The last three PJs aren't totally poppyless. They are just very, very subtle. Wouldn't even see them at all, had you not gotten that level of shine. Maybe it's Morgan Hill Waldo-poppy jasper.

Wrong! Too much ketchup and mustard!! Gooood shine on all. Thanks Pat! I was hoping it would be just enough K&M for you...but not to be! LOL #1 and #3 really charm me. My eyes keep going back to those subtle, beautiful details. And that shine... Thanks Mud! Number three really is cool. There's a ton of small orbs in that tan section of that cab. I should take a loupe photo of that one. Thank you my friend! All of these are actually fun to work...for different reasons. The MHPJ really was easy work because it all held together! The OJ was fun because it was challenging due to how thin the slab was. It definitely gave me a bit more confidence working thinner cabs! The ability for this material to take a polish really is amazing. I was looking through some slabs today and ran across the "Morgan Hill Wannabe"! LOL 4, 5, 8 and 9 are my picks in that order. Thanks Bry! I'm close to you on your picks. For me, it's probably 4, 5, OJ, 8, and 9.

("Don't pigeonhole me, man.") Or "subtle and understated." Glad you enjoyed them, and glad there weren't too many fractures. I just re-peeked at the cabs I made from that MH, and saw that it's got the subtle poppies too.

Kinda late to the party here (darn work!) But these look amazing jasoninsd (such a difference from the norm! 😂) I saw some OJ in the Kingsley catalog the other day. I keep the catalog next to my bed, that and a "gems and minerals of Washington" lol. Nothing like Lanny Ream talking about zeolites to put you to sleep! Anyway, great shapes polish and material. (I had to wrap it up or I'd talk forever!) 😆
