I don't normally post a single cab in a thread...but this one would've stole the show in a thread with any other cabs! LOL - Really, I just wanted to post a bunch of macro pictures because there's SO much going on in this one. The exposed druzy pocket on this one is sick! (In a good way! LOL) This piece came from holajonathan! Big thanks Jonathan!

Oh man, you did it proud. Too bad the other 90% of the slab doesn't look like that. Imagine a big ol' slab that looked like that? I was afraid the one I sent you was going to be unstable in the pretty blue / sparkly part, but I guess not.
It has what I call "micro-druzy." I don't know if there is a real name for the microscopic sparklies, but they are the best kind on my opinion.

I should have mentioned, your composition is good working in some of the opal. Better, in fact, than my live-edge cab from the same rough.
Now you can attest to the fact that the photos I submitted for the January cab challenge were not photoshopped. The colors look too intense to be real.

That’s a doozy of a druzy! I’m glad this one got its own thread (and some excellent closeups).

That's a yummy cab! Excellent macros, too. Thanks Robin! The macros are done with my phone camera zommed into 3x with my loupe placed over the lens! Redneck...but it works! LOL Thanks Tela! I was super nervous on this one...I knew it "could" look good and didn't want to screw up the potential! LOL Oh man, you did it proud. Too bad the other 90% of the slab doesn't look like that. Imagine a big ol' slab that looked like that? I was afraid the one I sent you was going to be unstable in the pretty blue / sparkly part, but I guess not. Nice work! Thanks my friend! I've been dying to show you this one! I got one more preform out of the "active" area, but it isn't like this one. I really did sacrifice a little on the slab to get that druzy in the right spot. I'm still going to work some pieces from the predominantly brown area. It's going to polish nicely, and if I can get an area where it's "swirling" a bit, maybe it won't look too bad.

You framed that up beautifully. Sometimes, you have to sacrifice the slab. I generally cut the best cab or two out of the slab and save the rest to maybe do later. Life is too short to cut crappy cabs.

It has what I call "micro-druzy." I don't know if there is a real name for the microscopic sparklies, but they are the best kind on my opinion. Yeah...the way that druzy sparkles is unreal! It almost looks "fuzzy" (no relation to Brian! LOL). I really think this is the coolest druzy I've worked! I should have mentioned, your composition is good working in some of the opal. Better, in fact, than my live-edge cab from the same rough. Now you can attest to the fact that the photos I submitted for the January cab challenge were not photoshopped. The colors look too intense to be real. Thanks, but I think your live-edge cab was kind of dictated by that druzy pocket on yours. That really needed to be the centerpiece (or highlight) to your cab, so trying to incorporate more opal may not have been highly optional. As soon as I got the slab and got it wet, I couldn't believe the colors. They're some of the more "vibrant" colors I've encountered. I think it has a lot to do with the way there's a darker (blackish) color surrounding the lighter browns. It highlights everything and makes it "pop"! That’s a doozy of a druzy! I’m glad this one got its own thread (and some excellent closeups). Thanks Brian! When I was taking pictures, I realized there was no way this wasn't going to get it's own thread! LOL

Life is too short to cut crappy cabs. It's the one thing I still struggle with...but I'm getting better about it. I make sure to pick the best spot first and then try and look for any "good ones" after that...

Biggs, Blue Biggs, Opalized Blue Biggs all look similar and then I got a 6 pound chunk of Biggs Opal which looks different. Your Biggs is also different. I wonder how many different Biggs are out there.

It's pretty amazing how many different types of the "same" or "similar" material is out there...some of them only differentiated by the next hillside over!

Thanks Karl! It's one of those cabs that may never go up for sale...if I ever start selling! LOL I'm not sure why I said "may"...it won't go anywhere! LOL Unless it's the one my wife finally wants...since she hasn't wanted any of my cabs or wraps so far! (And then it's not really going anywhere anyway! LOL)

I wonder how many different Biggs are out there. The problem is that anything mined within a hour or Biggs Junction, Oregon is called Biggs Jasper by those who want to sell the stuff.
