This is a very cool idea Jack, I'll be interested to see the results. I'm pulled a couple of ways, they have a pretty decent shine going but there's also plenty that aren't finished shaping. I'm going to say that's just out of coarse but it's a load that's been running for months and months. Some very interesting rocks in that load, I like that one, top pic, kind of green and white.

I'm gonna say they haven't even been in the tumbler. I believe you just picked them off the beach and they are in their "natural" state.

I'd say just out of pre-polish, however there are some stones with white in the cracks and pits so it could be a batch just out of final polish probably AO or TO... Marian

I'm with Gaetz! Look like well polished beach pebbles fresh from the shoreline.

River/beach rock IMO.

I shall combine both answers and say that they have been tumbling for years on the beach which would therefore be the equivalent of the coarse stage in a rotary tumbler after having been in there for a very long time.

My best guess is a mix of polished and unpolished rocks. Possibly polished but not burnished?
Some beauties there!!

This final stage rock being sold by a hobby store. Not even close to our standards! (Just had to pick a different point of view!)

I am one of those that would have to feel it to see what stage it is, because each stage feels different. I guess I am just a touchy feely person. I am goint to say one week out of coarse. Tami

They kind of look like they could come from either end of tumbling.... I don't know but I will give this thread a bump!! Looking forward to hearing what you have here!

Hi, Im a bit overwhelmed at the interest many thanks
The answer some of you got in a few ways. yes they are beach pebbles But--
They have been tumbled for 3 to 4 weeks in 80 grit changed every 6 days washed and re charged BUT also washed/ Burnished in Borax for 24 hours
THE point I wanted to make The difference a burnishing & Borax make !
These stones have a dull shine after the first stage due to the burnishing and borax
This is somthing I picked up from the expert "Stone King James" in his thread last year that has revolutionised my system and I wanted to pass it on to others with a "illustration"
May God bless you all and have a great Christ - Mas
