I tried the glycerin, but did not like the results. If the chips are loose, they sparkle when moving. The glycerin prevented them from moving around much. Plus, even with a syringe it was hard to get the glycerin in the bottles. Some finesse is required to crush the rocks. They must be carefully cushioned. Too much force with a hammer results in rock dust. Too little force results in pieces that are too large to fit in the bottles. Top bottle openings range from about 3-5 mm. Here are some more earrings I recently made.

They look really nice, I bet they'll sell well. Patty Thanks. I hope to sell about 20% of them. Anything else would be a bonus. Have about 24 pendants, necklaces and earrings made from the bottles. Finally decided that a price of $10.00 would be correct for earrings. Pendants will be $6.00. If people are looking, but not buying after an hour, I will do a special of 2 for $15.00 for the earrings. The sale is only 3 hours long.

The sale is only 3 hours long. That sounds more of a show & tell, then a craft show AND a very crazy 3 hours for you, after all the work preparing.
Hope it proves worth it , and you have other avenues to sell the rest.

My employer does these on a quarterly basis. I was last there in November. About 200 people came through during the 3 hours.
I am traveling light for this.

I think you're updated pricing is a lot better. If you still wanted to do wine or beer you could boil it for a few minutes. That would remove the alcohol. Of course you could always use non-alcoholic beer or wine.

fernwoodWill these be available for purchase for the forum members? I don't wear earings other than piercing studs but I know A LOT of people that would absolutely LOVE these. Have you made sets of earings and pendants that match? Feel free to PM me if you want. ABSOLUTELY LOVE the idea. Did you do birth month colors, like opal type for October, clear crystals for April, peridot color for August, smokey quartz for November, amethyst for February so on and so forth. Let me know about purchase please. I think I live to far away from you to make it to a craft sale thingy. 🤔

I don't feel comfortable selling these here, as I consider them costume jewelry. I just started making these, but have lots of ideas. Yes, on matching sets. I can make some with most birthstones. There is a link at the bottom for my Facebook business page. Will PM you.

fernwood Beth- It really doesn't matter if it's costume jewelry or not. It's definitely rock related. There is no issue with you selling these to members if you would like to. I think they are really cool!

I'd like to buy a few empty bottles since I have some opal chips left over from my previous work with floating opals and would like to make more. Let me know if you decide to sell.
