Wow those are great, can't even pick a favorite! I know nothing about wire wrapping, but are those spheres on number 9 beads or something? Never seen them before on the wraps for sale around here. Really cool looking

Wow those are great, can't even pick a favorite! I know nothing about wire wrapping, but are those spheres on number 9 beads or something? Never seen them before on the wraps for sale around here. Really cool looking Thank you so much! Yep! They're copper beads. I've got a couple different sizes (one more size bigger than what's on that one). I don't always use them...mostly because I'm not creative enough to figure out how to use them other than on shapes like that one! LOL Thanks James! I seriously never get tired of cabbing, wrapping, or even looking at Teepee Canyon Agates! LOL Pretty sweet looking stuff there guy. Thanks Lunk! If you ever make it down this way to see your brother, we can meet up and I'll take you out there. I'll let you do all the heavy work though! LOL (Kidding on that last part! ) Dayam! Red Druzy -- Thanks Robin! That red druzy is a pretty cool effect! The quartz area is clear...and I think what it's doing is showing the red pattern of the fortification underneath...if I'm explaining that correctly...

All of those are gorgeous although I'm not sure I like the curls at the bottom of number 4. They seem to detract from the beautiful stone but that's just me.

LOL - I don't blame you for not liking those curls. It wasn't in the original idea for the wrap. I had made two "square" tabs to hold the bottom...but it looked like CRAP! So, rather than scrapping the whole wrap, I snipped off the "top" of the square and curled the sides down...and this was the result. LOL I absolutely respect your opinion and I thank you for saying something. The other day when I showed this one to my wife and mother (biased as the are! LOL), both said they liked the way the bottom looked...so I'm hoping someone other than a family member will end up liking the curls too! LOL

They’re all beautiful… #1, and #4 especially!🤗I actually like the curls on the bottom… Imo, I think it gives it a more vintagey (not a real word)🤣 quality appearance.

Glad your wife and mother both liked it and I'll bet that will sell quick.

Wow, this is truly fantastic work jasoninsd . You definitely have an artistic eye for choosing awesome patterns in the stones you have chosen. Your mounts are clean and attractive, are freeform in nature to enhance the focal point when needed, and don’t take away from the beauty of the stone. Well done!! I look forward to seeing more of your work!

LOL - One of my favorite parts of this whole hobby is having a slab that gives options with regards to the location of a pattern within a cab. Some material, like Mexican Royal Velvet Obsidian, doesn't have any pattern to it. A person could plop the stencil down anywhere on the slab and have a nice cab. Material like Teepee Canyon Agate definitely gives some options with regards to choosing the shapes, sizes, and location of pattern within the cab. To me it's like trying to solve a puzzle of sorts... I have some more wraps that I need to patina the wire, then I'll post some pics...hopefully later today or tomorrow.

Love em. Great cabs. You must be mining nodules? I'm hoping to get a few cabs this summer from my surface finds but i rarely find good cabbing stuff. I'll post some pics of my junk for people to get better perspective on how fantastic your pieces are Oh and nice wraps. Got agates on the brain. Hey that wasn't you up Sawmill Springs yesterday during the hail storm was it? Met a couple rabbit chokers in the big quarry there while i was picking the hillsides. South Dakota boys but i didn't think to ask names, whoever they were they had some nice pieces to show off.

I mined a few of the nodules, but some of my best cabs came from surface find nodules. I'm not sure why people discarded them...but they were definitely worth cutting. Nope...that wasn't me. I wish I had been able to get out. I'm actually planning on getting over there Monday or Tuesday...depending on rain. I've been itching to get back out there for about the last 6 months now. LOL

jasoninsd not sure where you hunt, but if you're a surface hound it may or may not be improved from last year. The forest service did a bunch of controlled burns around the area which cleared up some ground clutter but in the process charred much of the exposed rock. I found several yesterday with a nice coat of black pine smoke resin which makes things tough to spot and tougher to clean up. It does smell like a campfire when cleaning though which is a nice bonus haha.
If your nodules are coming from hillsides not near an established dig they're probably naturally exposed and not somebody's leaverites, but the digs are often worth a look too as decent material does often seem to get left behind.
Hope you get back out soon. I'm headed north toward Mallo today to visit ancestors and it will be chilly and wet but the hills can make any weather beautiful.

Can you drive into the Sawmill Springs area, or do you have to hike in? My wife has shown interest in getting out to eastern Montana, and I was showing her your cabs made from stuff from SD. Would be fun to come back into that area, now that I know a bit more about rockhounding there.

Tim, thanks for letting me know about the burn. I would've been surprised for sure! I'm betting there's going to be a lot more "Hills Agates" (they're FAIRBURNS to me!! LOL) that get found this year. It seems like any time there's a fire in that area they show up a LOT better! All of my "good finds" came from the quarry site. There was a LOT of activity in one particular spot up there last year...like so much activity I don't know how it was all done with "hand tools"! So my good stuff came from pieces I dug out...but most of it was "missed" by others... Thank you so much Mark! I'm not sure how "artistic" I am...versus lucky. I took it as far as I could last year...but it wasn't all that far really. I didn't check the odometer, but I don't think it was even two miles worth of road... If you guys decide to make it down this way, feel free to get ahold of me. If you want, I'd be happy to meet up with you if I can swing it.
