Haha Vegas James Those directions sound like The Path to the LDM Can only see the mine entrace from peculiar twisted height. Even that is open to interpretation . Lots of petroglyph markings could indicate the path. Both indigenous and later spaniards Search on Man  |

All I found was lots of chalcedony roses, black andesite and a large purple beryl crystal.
All I can figure out in the symbols is the medicine wheel and the Thunderbird below it.
Was told some of these symbols on this rock are also found on the Hopi Prophecy Rock. have not looked to compare them though.
A lot of these symbols I have never seen before. Especially that long line with the loops in the second photo. Mainly around here we see things like the bighorns, deer, shaman, Thunderbirds, moons and hands. Have some more from the Valley of Fire area I will have to see if I can find and post.

My regret that I addressed any personal With my treasure hunting lore won’t derail this thread don’t have the acumen to back up any claims Nor the field work to be knowlgable That said I do see lots Hohokam petroglyph on my trailsting The rock art is readily available To any able body trailster South Mountain, Estralla, Squaw Peak, T-Bone Butte, Supers ..ect…. Here one I came by  This is out by Ray Mine East Of Florence These huge boulder just crop up seemingly of nowhere on this desert floor I’m sure the Hohokam were amused w/ this phenomenon. Many of those boulders have markings, Gneiss thing to do on lazy Sunday afternoon 1800 years ago Phoenix is the only city I know of, that is continuation of a previously well established indigenous s civilization. That being the Hohokam with their canal works... |

All of the above are Pertroglyphs, created by chipping the image into the rock. Pictographs are images drawn with paint or in some cases mud. Each geographic area had a unique style, some overlapping. The ones I posted would be considered Virgin/Kayenta, I think VegasJames. too. Horseshoe Canyon in Utah has some of the most amazing Pictographs, Barrier Canyon Stye. I hiked this twice quite a few years ago, won't be going back, it's a tough one for an old guy. Honestly I didn't know there was a difference.
I thought they were all painted, so I learned something new today. 
Your lucky to have seen them in person amazing is too small of a word.

the ones in my picture was pecked right into the rock surface some of those others use the desert varnish of the rock to give the the 2 tone highlight desert varnish Pecked, and probably some abraded scraping, and makes foe a more easily identified marking I would imagine .... |

very cool article rockjunquie  Tela mentions the desert varnish and the big horn sheep had no idea the Big Horn was so often glyphed I just happened on the image it was on South Mountain butte where particularly is lost to me altho it mus be a well known petro so easily recoverd if I put in the effort the reason I say that is: my picture not so well taken for such a find most my petro imaging is less than great if I get the chance agrin have to give that more serious attention ... |
