Gotta love lace. The floating orbs in the first one are great.
Peace, Rich

Re template shapes, you can combine the top of one shape with the bottom of another shape, OR left side of one and right side of another, OR….. 😀
Good looking bunch you have there! Thanks!

Gotta love lace. The floating orbs in the first one are great. Peace, Rich Thanks Rich! There really are some cool orbs coming out of this material. I've got several more slabs...and I WAS going to hold onto them for awhile...we'll see if I have the patience to wait to work on them! LOL Gorgeous cabs and I'm really enjoying the macro shots. Thank you SO much! When I saw the fine banding in these, I got super stoked...and I HAD to get some macro shots! Thank goodness for a loupe that works with my phone camera! LOL Re template shapes, you can combine the top of one shape with the bottom of another shape, OR left side of one and right side of another, OR….. 😀 Good looking bunch you have there! Thanks! Thanks Pat! I have combined a few template shapes before...not very often...but that really is a great option for infinite shapes! Beautiful, as usual! The second one is my favorite, too. I'm a real sucker for shield shapes. Absolutely love them. Thanks Robin! That second one is a very "simplified" shield shape...but I really like it!

Those are some very nice cabs Jason. Crazy lace is really nice material as well, one of my favorites. Starguy sent me a couple slabs of it a while back, and I've been drooling over the dogtooth lace since I got it, waiting for inspiration to strike on the shapes. This helped! How's "Frankenfinger" holding up?? -Nicholas

Crazy Lace was my first "love" when it came to rocks other than Fairburns...but it's now in the third place - right behind Teepee Canyon Agates! LOL I'll be watching for what you do with yours...you've really been improving A LOT on your cabs! Thanks for asking about Frankenfinger! LOL - It's amazing how much I use that exact spot when I'm cabbing. It's been weird to try and hold the dop and cab differently from what I'm used to. Once in awhile I forget and try to do what's "natural" and I NAIL that spot...it quickly reminds me it's not even close to healed! LOL

Once in awhile I forget and try to do what's "natural" and I NAIL that spot...it quickly reminds me it's not even close to healed! LOL Crazy lace was mine too! It was the first slab I ever bought, from a friend of mine named Perry who lives really close to my house (in fact, I bike around his area a lot!) and occasionally had big sales. I'll be sure to post them. I got three done today, but didn't get around to posting them. Thank you so much! I think the fact that I'm not cabbing in weather that I can see my breath in helps "a little" lol. I totally understand, whenever I'm injured, suddenly that spot needs to get used a lot (same with sickness!). I couldn't survive without cabbing right now, so I know the saying "where there's a will there's a way" works real well in this contest. Hand/finger pain is the absolute worst! I had trigger finger surgery (after two steroid shots. *shiver*) so I totally understand how uncomfortable/painful stitches and healing are. I had dissolving stitches and they still hurt real bad. Not a huge fan of hand wounds, nope.

Nice, Jason! Make sure to put a few on the macro thread Thank you SO much! I haven't been in that thread in awhile...I need to go through it. I'll definitely post some pics. Beautiful cabs - the lace patterns are spectacular.
2nd one is my favorite.
Interesting how your doing those cool macros.
Wouldn't have thought that would work.
Obviously you have a good camera in your phone.

Thanks Patty! I picked up one of those cheap clip on macro-enablers for the phone off eBay (like $5). But I couldn't get it to work on my old phone. It kept doing "fish-eye" pictures. I started using the loupe instead...and figured out I have to zoom in to at least 2X to lose the fish-eye effect. Holding the loupe on my finger and pressing it against the camera lens, I have to fiddle a bit with it to make sure the loupe is centered...but I think it works like a charm. I really don't think the camera on me phone is anything really special - it worked good with the old phone...I think it would work with just about any phone camera...as long as your loupe is a decent one.

Thanks for explaining the loupe technique. Obviously you figured out a good thing.
