I think we finally got the whole story. The previous day, two gangs exchanged fire in the mall, so everyone was on edge. A chandelier fell outside Nordstroms and scared the crap out of everyone and forced a rush for the doors with people yelling it was gunshots. I was curious last night...so I searched out the incident. I ran across a story saying it was a light-fixture that was the culprit (also read about the prior shootings). I didn't post anything after I found out because I couldn't get the right words to come out...not sure I still will... I think this is a perfect example of what a sad state of affairs our society is in. It's sad that the first reaction when we hear a loud "pop" in a public place isn't "Oh, a light fixture must have fallen"....rather the first reaction is that it had to have been gunfire. Not saying anyone overreacted...I get it...I get that gunfire REALLY IS the most likely cause of the noise nowadays. It really sickens me - and I do mean physically makes my stomach flip - to see where our society is heading...and I really don't believe there's any possibility of reversing the self-destructive direction it's heading...

I agree. It's sad that things have come to that- but it IS the prudent thing to expect the worst. My granddaughter was in line at check out when people started running by and yelling. The store employees, without missing a beat, ushered everyone into the stockroom. They'd done it before. I'm glad they did, but it's sad nonetheless.

I hope you didn't take what I said as if I thought she did the wrong thing. I 100% believe she did the right thing by finding cover! It's just the causes of having to run for cover aren't lessening...they're not slowing down...they're on the up rise...they're becoming far too frequent...to the point where it's becoming the "norm"...and I freakin' hate it. (I'm just venting...I saw way too much "news" today! LOL)

Too much news can ruin one's day.

Glad your daughter stayed safe. Trying moments for a mom.
I am always a little scared when I see a photo of a former customer of mine that was arrested for robery, shooting incident, kidnapping, etc. Just a sign of the times, I guess.
