I have a Harbor Freight Drill Press, the cheaper one that a friend gave me. I like to start a hole with a small ball bit, which works fine in a jacob's chuck attached to this press, which closes down to nothing. For the small drill bits, I use an older model Dremel Drill press and a newer dremel. Having both drill presses set up really speeds the process, which is labor intensive. When cutting rounds- 1/2" and 1" for now, the larger drill press is the way to go IMHO, LOL!

I once picked up a stray poodle on my way to my own wedding! Imagine my Bride's surprise! LOL! I have rescued many dogs in my 55yrs. on this rock, attempted rescue of many more, but they got away or were too darned scared to approach. When I find a stray, I make photo flyers announcing a "FOUND", and post them around, in whatever area I am in. I also check with the local Humane Society, dog pound and or animal control. If no response in 2 weeks, I try to find a loving home (mine if I have the room.)or last resort, a "no kill" shelter. I have NEVER had a pure bred, always just good, healthy, adorably loving, MUTTS.!!! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

There are WAY! too many stories like these. It forces the question? Why are there so many pet breeders selling "papered pets", when there are so many lovable puppies and companion older dogs that need homes. The only "papers" a pet should need are the ones laid on the floor during "housebreaking". Seriously, I don't know how purebred pet owners sleep at night, knowing they could have saved a life , instead of massaging their egos by paying big $$$ for a purebred, that they can boast about to family and friends. Living in a rural area, I have witnessed more than my share of stray dogs & cats, showing up new in the area one day, seldom seeing them more than once. Did a car hit them, coming around one of the many blind curves that parallel the river? Or maybe a coyote pack found them, leaving not a trace of Rover behind. Having never come across one before, would Fido know to avoid a coiled rattlesnake? The smaller pets are a meal to Eagles, falcons and other. Can Spot swim? Pushed into a corner by a Bobcat, could he survive the rapids and giant boulders in the stream he was forced to jump into? Yes, they're are plenty of ways to kill your unwanted pet- just kick them out the door iand let the Forest or highway do your dirty work for you. Sleep well, you soulless murderers.

Last winter, I glued a couple hundred rounded lakers to wood to be able to cut several at once on my 9" saw. I used 1. Elmer's school glue,2. Elmer's carpenter glue, 3.Gorilla glue(with clamps!) 4. Amazing E6000, 5. JB Weld and 6. Beacon 527. They had ample time to cure, as I did no cutting till a couple months later. Results: All held extremely well, no "pop offs" during cutting. JB weld had to be soaked in acetone to release (messy, smelly) E6000 and Beacon 537 could be pryied off, then scrubbed with hot soapy H2O. Elmers, both school and carpenters glue responded to hot soapy H2O soaking, with a little toothbrush scrub to remove residue. IMHO, they all had good holding power, I will probably stick with the school glue in the future due to cost and overall ease of use. And Oh Yes, most rocks needed a little flat spot ground in one spot to make for a larger rock to glue -to-wood contact area. Hope this helps y'all

I ordered a new Lortone motor last November, and it ran hot right out of the box. Using it 24/7 ever since without problem. I go with it being normal, but don't listen to me cuz I'm just a newb. LOL.

The LR-2000 is a somewhat useful tool for determining claim status, though it is not always up to date or accurate. The only real way to be sure of land status is to go to the district BLM office for that region. All mining claims must be renewed on an annual basis, I believe the date is Sept. 15, same every year. If you are late with your renewal, the land goes back into BLM inventory and then may be "claimed over". Your claim also needs to be filed at the county of location tax assessor office. Hope that helps a little.

Thanks for the link, Christopher, I googled for the site yesterday w/o any luck. Your link worked fine. Jo- Thanks for the info! I know aunuts from my gold mining days, so will be in contact. Are there fees for the classes, and/or charges for materials that you know of? I'm looking at taking as many classes as possible, keeping in line w/ my finances.
