yes I have one and lots of mags, also have the big brother bi-pods on both and optics, I can hit the 100 yard 10" plate pretty regularly with the 15-22 once it's dialed in I like the hyper velocity rounds (Remington vipers) specially for semi auto pistols (S&W 22A) Here's my fav pistol. Navy 9 sig 226 combat pistol. Favor the 15 round mags. Also favor it as my carry because I like the full frame 1911. If Im taking it out, am using it and don't want to miss with a small sized pistol. Harder to conceal and not print but am accurate and happy with the large pistol frame. Wont run a drop leg holster on the belt in a SHTF situation Put it in a wheel camo holster to keep it high and tight for mobility. Don't favor a chest rig because of the vest mags needing to be quickly accessible. My weapons are all working guns and own no recreational guns at present. Like to build on 80 % lower receivers. Have all I need right now so am doing other hobbies and am not building guns. Run reloads for every day and to stay where I need to be on capability. Stopped buying ammo got plenty and a boat load of mags also for all my pieces. Keep everything close to hand and ready bags packed . No beaver problems at my house. grin.. Plenty of mags for 223 or 308? Have extra for the 5.56's but short for the 7.65's.. Don't feel a pressing urge to buy the bigger magazines at present. Will wait for the newest best thing before I buy up.

I have lots of mags for 223 and the .22, can't pass up a good deal, but that was back in the old days.....My ak isn't as well equipped but good enough. I can survive the zombie apocalypse lol Hunting targets is all I do with them.

is that one in the last picture on the right a S&W M&P 15-22? Good eye Kev.. Know your guns for sure.
Yep My beaver buster. Got the whole family. That ones the baby of the pile. Use that one for beavers on the lake at night. Quiet. HAve a 5 acre nursery backing up to a river and the beaver would destroy thousands of dollars in one night. Handy because its quiet and deady accurate for a 22. The 30 cal there has a 24 power sitting under a fast fire 3 three and is good to 800 yds, limited only by the ammo. Fulton Arms upper, 18.5 marine, current issue, squad sniper barrel. 18 lbs thus the bipod. Built on a home milled 80 lower from aircraft, billet aluminum. You got the 15-22?? PS The other one in the picture, on the left, looks like one of my tricked m-4's .

So who do we threaten to get our raises or rocks ? Have gun will travel . Spose all the quiet partners will have to get a rock too . Good thing we have some free ones coming . Might not need to threaten, If us and the posse ride into town and just hangout I bet people will give us money and a map to the next town. Don't have guns, being an anarchist and all. Just these rock hammers. Another of my hobbies is building rock hammers. From a stump to a bowl of tumble in one short burst. Have a bowling ball and am goin to make me some bowlerite. grin.

Complete tumble virgin here. I made the plunge and got a thumler tumbler model B. Started with 6lbs of Ocean Jasp, 2lbs Landscaped Jasp, misc red/sunset Jasp and large Ocean Jasp palm stone. Opened my 60/90 week 1 last Friday and after rinsing and starting 60/90 week 2, I'm friggin hooked. I couldn't believe what a difference even 1 week made. I have over 100lbs of rough from various locations in my house, no joke, and I realize I might have a problem. I also realize I'm gonna need another tumbler or 2. I've checked a few threads and the info was very helpful. I look forward to what will be a long relationship with my tumbler. Thanks I lived near lake Ontario and the Canadian border for 30+ years, only thing I miss is the lake lol

I just watched a video where a guy made a flat lap out of a food processor. He used a rheostat for a speed controller and fabbed a water system for it. Although there was no instructions and not sure the size pads he used the idea seemed pretty solid. The pads looked like they were from one of those hand help polishing tools to do counter tops. Anyone else seen something similar?

Oh heck no, can't beat 45¢ a pound! You gonna be selling LFR boxes of the stuff? If so, price? shouldn't be difficult to sell 1000 pounds at double cost which means he'll have 1000 pounds left at no cost...... oh the possibilities.

I always run my rocks trough at least one week of coarse grit. Coarse grit could be 80, 60/90, or 46/70. I tumble a lot of beach rocks and almost none of them are ready after only a week. I should say that I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to tumbling, so you might be happy with rocks that aren't as perfect. I want them to be as shiny as they can be. From what I read the first grit 60/90, for example is to shape the stone, but my thought is since they are already shaped, can this step be skipped?

I'm sure this has been asked before, but from all the searching I couldn't really find the answer. Just got a new/used tumbler, never used one before. Collected a bunch of quartz beach pebbles that I want to use, since they are already pretty smooth what grit should I start them out at?

Mary Ellen was very slow to grind. A test for the diamond wheel longevity, such tough rocks will wear out many brands of diamond wheels in a hurry. toiv0, fine stone. Maybe the finest I have ever owned. Beautiful. It is a function of the hardness of the sintering and quality of the diamonds guessing. The diamond wheel passed in flying colors, but my patience started wearing out. Will do it in shifts. Cherts, corals, Mary Ellen and other rocks silicified by dissolution of silica rich water are the hardest toughest stones for the most part. Mary Ellen, betcha it will tumble like a Montana. Will be given to toiv0 when finished for payback: www.flickr.com/photos/67205364@N06/35413414961/in/dateposted-public/have you used a "super grinder" before, where you stack up several blades together, was wondering if you had any comparison thoughts about stacking blades (non notched) vs the blade you used.

Hematite's and esp. the brecciated or banded ones. Personal favorites. Which materials are the ones that you can work with and will take a polish? no idea, I'm new at this, I've worked on some quartz pebbles I picked up at the beach is about all so far. I have a 7" tile saw that I use so once I get home with whatever we pick up I'll try to cut some and post some pictures etc.

the next field trip is 6-24 (this will be my 2nd one) we will be looking for red hematite yellow limonite black manganese quartzsite manganese hematite breccia
both my boys said they would go with me, teenage sherpas are always good. Although the terrain doesn't sound real great, knee deep river to cross (maybe) depending on rain etc. While I'm going to collect what has eye appeal I would like some stuff to cut and polish, though some of this stuff will be to soft etc I think. From the list is there one specific rock you'd focus on? I'll add pictures sometime after the 24th

I have a 6 inch "all in one" (I got a decent deal on it) after doing just one side on 2 different quartz pebbles I found on the beach, it seems I need to replace the 600 grit disc already (I think it's 600) anyway they seem to not last long at all. Figured these would be good to learn and practice on, plus a tumbler would be too noisy for my current living situation.
should I
cover the master place with felt (or something else?) could I then use bulk grit and recharge as needed or would this not work for the coarser grits? get the diamond discs from ebay/china? buy more of the peel and stick?
I'm trying to find a balance of cost and convince if that makes sense.
I do have some extra plastic plates I can dedicate to specific grits.

Definitely looks like you're haven't second thoughts on this one Scott ![](http://www.rockshow.rocktumblinghobby.com/i.php?/upload/2017/06/05/20170605120457-4e31b5a7-me.jpg) Ha! I just hoisted out of the rockpile closer to the camera and set it on that rock. I was catching my breathe and visualizing how i could get it to shoulder, then forty yards to the path up the twenty foot cliff. After a moment, i lifted it to shoulder and tried walking. Too unstable. I let it fall and forgot about it, until this pic was published. thinking of checking the local military surplus store for a duffel bag with shoulder straps, maybe a rucksack, anything is better than a full 5 gallon bucket, my grip strength ain't what it use to be.

I have always wanted to go to WH- for years. I was talking to DH about it. He checked it out on line and brought up us going there on vacation next year. I am just wondering- how the heck do you know who is a good instructor? There are so many! I would love to take some silver smithing classes. I am self taught, but have a lot to learn. I need some professional instruction. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) they handed out their booklets at the last meeting, some of the members have actually taken their classes, haven't had a chance to ask them about it etc, yet.

Is the material fractured or pretty solid? Looks like you have a few nice sized chunks there that could be made into spheres. You may have @shotgunner knocking on your door! it's solid, I cut some smaller pieces with my 7 inch tile saw, aside for the occasional cracks there wasn't any crumbling etc. Most of what I cut, I cut slots into it then inserted a chisel to break it down smaller.

Nice pile o' rock! Unikite? Where was the trip? Pictures of the area and ya'll digging? We need all the dirty details! yes unakite it was on private land. The owner is kind enough to let the clubs dig and even pulls out boulders for us. Rockbridge county has lots of old mines etc. Next trip is to Augusta county which is right next door.
