So, I see all these photos of Mirror Polishes all finished on a Vibe tumbler. All I could afford was a Rotary Tumbler, Is it possible to get the same Mirror shine using only a rotary tumbler?
The grit I ordered from rock shed is as follows:
Graded 80 Grit SiC Graded 220 Grit SiC 500 Grit SiC(they were out of 500 AO) 1000 Grit AO 8000 Grit AO Polish
If I do a 5 stage tumble with these, Can I get the same Mirror Polish as a Vibe tumbler using ONLY my Rotary Tumbler? Sorry for all the dumb Noob Questions, this is how i learn.

Yes you can...depending on material and patience.

A rotary can give you the same shine. The vibe does it faster but essentially it’s the same process.

The only "dumb Noob Question" is the one that is never asked.

The only "dumb Noob Question" is the one that is never asked. I feel the same way that is why I ask them all no matter how dumb they seem to me. lol

I've done a little teaching, and found that if one person in a class has a question often phrased as "this might be a dumb question, but...", there are always more people thinking of the same question. I learned to poll people in order to be able to say the above. No shame, no embarassment when part of the learning process.

The only stupid questions are the ones that I ask ? No Wooferhound, the only stupid questions are those questions left unasked. If a sought out answer is not asked you'll never know. My fave question is "Why?" Pisses the doctors off more than not. "ARE YOU SERIOUSLY QUESTIONING ME?" No sir/ma'am I just want to know why I am doing what you are asking/ordering. 🙄 Sometimes I think my stupid question SHOULD be left unasked.

vance71975All I use is rotary and get a beautiful glossy shine, on the right rough. I coaxed a pretty good shine on orchid calcite using dry polish method (gtound corn cob with polish in it) although it tumbled at least 3 weeks (just because I didn't need the barrel, I have many) the after photos of the calcite are on here somewhere under my "orchid calcite" post. A girl on YouTube, Cyrstal something the name escapes me, does a video on dry polishing calcite and other soft rocks. Check out the process.

I mostly use a vibe, but I also use rotaries and I get a great polish with both.
