So a while back I ordered a Diamond Pacific MT-10 Mini Sonic Tumbler (dual four pound hoppers). It took a good month or two to receive it since DP were waiting on parts to start manufacturing again. So now I have it.
Before I got it, I purchased a couple of one pound tubs of Vibra-Dry+ to go with the Tumbler so that I was ready.
I was curious on how it worked so I dumped all of one tub into my TV-5's bowl and added my rocks. The tub filled up the four pound bowl about half way, maybe a little more. It's really fluffy stuff that looks like birdseed so I'm assuming that why it filled up as much as it did.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is if anyone has a Mini Sonic and has used the VD+ and could give some tips.
Like;
Does the one pound tub fill up the four pound hopper because it's more compact and not wide like the TV-5 bowl?
Do you used any media as well or does the VD+ cusion enough that you don't need media?
Is the standard tumble time the same when polishing longer/shorter?
Any info helps. Thanks!

Hey, I only use Vibradry on the 25000 and 50000 polishing stages. Can't answer some of your questions, as we only have 2 mt-4 and not an mt-10.
Just use Vibradry and your stones. Vibradry is designed to not need a media or cushion. The birdseed, walnut, or cornhusk you see is the cushioning and grit carrier.
With vibradry, at least on the polishing side, its 24-48 hours per stage, depending on material hardness.
We don't use it on lower than 25000 as 600 would more than likely wear out too fast due to rock dust, and 500 AO will break down each day so it'll carry it through the entire prepolish in 4-5 days.

Ok, so if I'm understanding correctly, you can actually do all the Stages (except Stage One) with VibraDry? Currently I have #600 and #1,700 but yesterday I ordered both #25,000 and #50,000.

You want to do at least the 80 grit and 220 grit wet. I also recommend running 500 grit wet as well, as the 600 grit vibra-dry is going to get dusty and ineffective pretty quick, and at what they charge for vibra-dry, that is a pretty big loss of money.
We do everything but 25000 and 50000 wet.

i also have a mt-4 and am using 14000 and 25000 vibra dry it does a super job on my soft stones the problem i have run into is i run 24 hr. batches and after 2-3 weeks the vibra dry pretty well stops moving called dp and was told to wash and dry barrel that worked great for about a hour then barely moved after that makes the stuff pretty costly if it wares out after a couple weeks note tried unused load of new grit and worked great anyone have any thoughts thanks
