Unfortunately the member who started the Face behind the name thread deleted her account and instantly wrecked every thread and post she made on the forum. I personally am already bothered seeing the "Created By: deleted" at the top of the lighthearted chit-chat area and so the poll is asking simply should we unsticky this thread and let it drop, start a new one, or let it stay where it is? As a side note, allow me to get up on my soapbox for a minute (without the cussing emoticon - it's more like sadness this morning). I wish the nuclear option of deleting an account wasn't an option on the forum but it is. It always bothers me and creates a sense of loss for the person who we enjoyed having as a community member. If ANYONE gets to the point of feeling like deleting their account for any reason public or personal, please talk to me first and maybe there's another solution? Keep in mind that in most cases 99.9% of your fellow community members who are interacting with you every day, have ZERO idea what happened and why and it creates a giant wtf? moment not to mention it leaves behind a whole bunch of ugly nameless and confusing posts.

I voted for a new one. I imagine y'all could just move the other pictures over to a new one.

Tommy - Isn't there a way to "merge" threads? If a new one is created...by you for instance...can't the old one be "annexed" onto the new one? That way all existing posts would still remain... I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night...so I'm full of ideas! LOL I won't get into it too deeply...but I too am a bit put off when someone actually deletes their account. If someone chooses to walk away from the forum, then just walk away...no need to purposely knock the drinks on the floor on your way out.

Great minds think alike.

LOL It's a great idea and yes threads can be merged, but the forum is strictly chronological so the oldest posts would show up before the first post of the new thread if that makes sense. I guess it would still accomplish getting rid of the 'deleted' sore thumb so there's that.

I was just trying to figure out a way to eliminate the "deleted" thread creator...and not have to start over with everything. Sometimes it's like pulling I-teeth to get members to post pics of themselves...and if they already did it once, that might be all we get! LOL

LOL It's a great idea Jason (and rockjunquie) - thank you and yes I think it's a good solution. I was looking at Pat's post - third post into the thread, thinking that would be a decent (not totally confusing) first post of the revised thread?

I always feel left out when I read threads like this (or some admin's post on Facebook telling about someone being blocked) and I have no idea who people are talking about... :-)

If it is possible I like the start with Pats post option, perhaps she could even edit if necessary to add continuity. I also can emphasize with the temptation to get mad, take your ball, and go home, burnt bridges and all. I know a lot of us just might be a bit strong willed and generally cantankerous, but I figure leaving my words here for posterity might just be a worse punishment to y'all. I was on another forum for a different interest and the owner/moderator and creator of the home brewed board did not allow defections, but did practice purging when he felt it necessary. I have a story about that perhaps I'll share if I see you at Tony's event.

By that I meant they couldn't arbitrarily remove a contribution to old posts and destroy the continuity just to "get even".

So I guess my vote is leave it if it can just be edited, unsticky that one and start a new one, perhaps with a link and brief explanation in the first post? That's about as clear as mud.
