After 97 (24 hour) days, my UV10 will not run. It will hum but the motor will not run. I can spin it manually and the shaft on which the weight is mounted has some slop. I also have a UV18 that still works but it takes a lot to fill. UV10s, and replacement motors are unavailable (I would not be good at adapting a different motor).
Usually my work flow is to do stage 1 in rotaries, stages 2 and 3 in one of the two (now one) Ultravibes, and polish (for the rocks that will fit) in Lot-Os. My last batch was polished in the UV18. It did well, but the action, generally, is much slower than the UV10 was. Suggestions and/or thoughts about replacing with a Mini Sonic MT14? The idea of no moving parts is appealing.

I have an MT-4. I got it for the very reason of the questionable motor quality we are seeing lately. I was all set to pull the trigger on a Lot-o when the motor problems reared its ugly head. Went with the mini sonic and never regretted it.

These are cheap. It's also about 1/2 the size of what's being replaced. I may very well get one at some point but it's my understanding that they're loud and not made very well. I really like my MT4. Just remember it's a completely different action then the bowl type vibe tumbler. I wouldn't think it would work as well for slabs and flats as a bowl type. I'd personally much rather have one big bowl than 2 small ones, because I like to do larger material, but that's just me YMMV.

Raytech TV5 is loud, but I don't have another vibratory to compare. The noise it produces is definitely not as pleasant as the noise from my Rebel 17.

For What Its Worth; the bowls are interchangeable. I have both bowls, don't recall if I bought the 10 or 18, I do interchange them as needed. The 10 gets much more use.

The UV 10 bowl opening for the threaded rod will need to be drilled out larger to fit over the UV18 threaded rod. I didn't think about trying this. I have used the Mini bowel on the UV10 a few times.
