As I was chomping my way through a bag of fresh cherries (my mouth is watering just typing that), I suddenly thought that the pits might make decent tumbling media! I've read about using walnut shell fragments, but these are bigger and rounder. I've thrown them in with my medium grit batch and all seems to be going well. After a few days vibing, they are nice and smooth.

The softer media like walnut shells are best for very soft stones. Medium softness stones work well with volcanic pumice.

I vote "genius" whether it works or not. 🧠

I've just gotta say, if this doesn't work, it'll be the pits!
*Of course if it does work, it'll be the pits too! LOL

LOL I used to burn cherry pits in my pellet stove and often wondered if they would make good media. I finally decided they would not as they are organic and would probably break down. Never gave it a second thought. Now I'm wondering again. Also I wonder how pistachio shells would work?

Let me know if you ever experiment with the Pistachio shells...if it works out, my wife eats enough of them I could turn around and sell the shells in 50lb bags! LOL (Okay...maybe 20lb bags! LOL)
