Hello Everyone, I am new here to this awesome forum! I have a Hilquist 14" slab saw that I am trying to rebuild. I am struggling to find parts and specs on how to even put this thing together. It looks to me like I'm missing a spring for the self adjusting advancment system of the carriage?! Also a couple of pulleys. It appears from what I've researched, that the spring is "pre-loaded" meaning it is set for a certain tension for that machine specifically. I don't know where to even start, so any advice or Information regarding this saw would be epic! Is there a place to find specs and parts for this saw? Anyhoo,Thank you for your time! -rookielapidary.

I had a Hilquist for a short time, my first big saw. The sprag clutch feed was the least favorite part, never worked right at all. When I fixed a 24" one for a friend I tossed it all and mounted a gearmotor to run the feed, worked fine after that. If I recall the feed screw is a coarse thread so I went with about 2rpm on the screw.

I have one in the shop I am going to rebuild, I might be able to help with pics of parts in place or whatever you need.

I have one in the shop I am going to rebuild, I might be able to help with pics of parts in place or whatever you need. Tony Towards the end of their manufacturing they began using an all metal sprag on the lever, bet it was something automotive, say from an old planetary overdrive that free wheeled while shifting. By the time I thought about trying to find the source they were gone. The rhythmic whoosh-whoosh of a properly set up hilquist is kinda pleasant. The backwards vice had it's appeal as well, the auto shut-off doesn't need much adjustment. Not a fan of how loose the carriage is on the rails though.
