So...a lot of you know we lost our beloved Trigger (aka knucklehead!) a few months back. He's my avatar picture. It was super hard on my wife...and me if I'm being honest about it. She lost a baby, but I lost a buddy. My wife started looking at the website for the local shelter. I wasn't really enthusiastic about it...but I knew she was needing it. So...she convinced me to go down to the shelter and "look". I knew what that meant...so I made it clear I wasn't going to settle for just something. It needed to speak to me...aka touch my heart and soul. Dang it!!! Wouldn't you know it...Blue did just that! We've had Blue for several weeks now. I haven't said anything on here about him for fear something might go wrong! LOL We found out he had been in the shelter six times! Apparently the story goes: his owner would get into a fight with his girlfriend, take off, then the girlfriend would let Blue out because she knew he'd take off as their yard isn't fenced...causing him to have to go and bail Blue out each time. Finally the shelter said enough was enough and would not let the owner take him back. Apparently the owner ended up in jail...and he "missed" his window to get Blue back. So...my wife and I legally adopted him! We can tell he didn't have a good home before...and we do think he was abused. I swatted a fly with a fly swatter and immediately saw Blue become skittish and nervous. I felt horrible. My wife got me a new extendable walking stick for hounding. All I did was extend the stick and Blue did the same nervous reaction. I wanted to cry when I saw his reaction. Blue got attacked by another dog while at the shelter. You can see the scar on his lip. Blue didn't fight back...even though you'd assume he would since we think he's part Pitbull and part Rottweiler! Nope. He's a lover!! Anyway...Blue...like our other dogs...has hit the lottery! His new forever home is filled with love, tons of petting, and all kinds of kisses! Dang dog even sleeps on the bed! Arghhh! LOL So...without further adieux...here's Blue!!!

Nice addition to the family Jason. Looks like he's making himself at home and loving every minute of it.

I'm glad to see you have a new buddy, Jason. Jonathan was here a couple weeks ago and I said something about you returning your dog and he informed me that you went back for him. I'm really glad it's working out for all of you!

Sorry to hear about Trigger, I hope you will keep those memories with you forever.
But I'm also happy to see how well you are all getting along! Despite his past traumas, it looks like he's getting quite comfortable already!
My future father in law also adopted a dog named Blue (who is actually blue, unlike your imposter!) who was also abused. So sad to see those indicative reactions. Really breaks my heart. Glad you guys can give him a safe and happy home!

Looks like Blue will be a wonderful dog, Jason. I like his subtle dominance reminder with his paw on your chest.

Nice addition to the family Jason. Looks like he's making himself at home and loving every minute of it. Thanks Rick! This turkey has definitely made himself at home...on every piece of furniture in the house it seems! LOL - I'm ok with it though. What's really funny is my wife says he'll get up into my recliner about a half hour before I get home in the evening...and he parks his butt in my recliner about a half hour before I leave for work in the morning. LOL I'm glad to see you have a new buddy, Jason. Jonathan was here a couple weeks ago and I said something about you returning your dog and he informed me that you went back for him. I'm really glad it's working out for all of you! Thanks Rob!! So actually...this isn't the same dog. Here's a Paul Harvey..."and now for the rest of the story"! For everyone keeping tabs: My wife and I tried to adopt another dog several weeks before Blue. His name was smoky. He was a 70+ pound pitbull mix (we think Great Dane)...pure muscle. He was a lover at the shelter...and a lover inside the house. However, once we'd let him out into our one acre yard, he'd go ballistic and want to kill every rabbit he saw. Problem was, he wasn't going to let the horse fence of 4x4s and 2x6s stop him. We put him on the leash to try and get him under control and he ended up dragging my wife halfway across the yard. I had to run over and swipe his back legs (it really was the only way to stop him from dragging her). We realized he wasn't going to listen to either of us...so sadly we had to make the decision to return him to the shelter. Thankfully, we do know he was adopted. We felt SO horrible about having him at the house for a week and taking him back...but we knew it wasn't a fit for us...nor him. Blue is different. He is taking some time to trust us and listen to what he's being told (mainly "come" and "no" LOL). However, he is starting to trust us...and he's listening a LOT better than when we first got him. While Blue does want to chase the rabbits, he doesn't try to break through the fence. Once they're out of the yard, he lets them go...for the most part. LOL Sorry to hear about Trigger, I hope you will keep those memories with you forever. Thanks Chris! Yeah...there's a couple things in this life that boils my blood...and animal abuse is one of them. Congrats!! Blue is a big boy! He's so rottweiler till you look at that big knuckle head. He looks comfy and happy. Thanks Tela!! He's got a massive tongue...and he likes to give kisses. Unfortunately, it's like getting swiped with 200 grit sandpaper! LOL One of the biggest things I LOVE about Blue...he likes to give love. He'll just come over for me to pet him and give me a kiss. I haven't had a dog want to "give" love for a long time! Trigger would accept the lovin'...but wasn't so big on giving it out! LOL Looks like Blue will be a wonderful dog, Jason. I like his subtle dominance reminder with his paw on your chest. Thanks Gary! Yeah...that didn't escape me either. LOL - He's doing really good though. When he first got here, he'd barge his way out the door when we'd go outside. Now, I make him "get back", I open the door, and I make him wait to go through the door until I say "ok". He's learned really quickly.

He certainly looks like he is happy in his new home! I’m glad to hear that Blue’s story has a taken a turn for the better. He is going to be living the good life from here on out.

I don't "have" to be up until 8am since I don't have to be to work until 10am. Blue...however...decides he needs to come into the bedroom and put his ugly mug right in my face as soon as "mom" leaves the house at a quarter to six! "Good mornin' Dad"! And as soon as I'm awake, he goes over to the couch and plops down to go back to sleep! LOL He certainly looks like he is happy in his new home! I’m glad to hear that Blue’s story has a taken a turn for the better. He is going to be living the good life from here on out. Thanks Brian! I truly do believe he's going to have a happy home finally!

He's already a lap dog! Very nice to see Jason. I'm still sorry for your loss of Trigger, we still mourn our sweet cat we lost 9 years ago, and have her pictures all over. But, I'm happy that this opened up your home to welcome Blue in and give him a nice home. We were able to bring a new cat home a year after we lost our first at age 16. She needed a home as her people were going through a divorce and she likely would've ended up at a shelter. She has been with us now for 8 years, 1 year longer than she spent in her first home, and we are so glad she came to live with us. They really do add to the family, she's definitely our baby, the most spoiled cat in town. :-)

He doesn't go ballistic like Trig did! LOL When he was in the shelter, he loved anyone and everyone. He has become protective of our property. The neighbor has had family over and Blue has been willing to voice his opinion. I went over and "introduced" him to them...and he completely backed off...which was awesome. I like that he's "ok" if he's been introduced...otherwise they need to stay the heck back! LOL He's already a lap dog! Very nice to see Jason. LOL I'm glad you were able to provide a safe and secure forever home for your fur-baby too!! Trigger will never be forgotten. The pictures of him are in the "family" collage frames on the wall...and they'll stay there forever!

I was sad to hear about trigger... seeing him as your profile picture all these years has made him a memory closely associated with the rth as a whole for me. Happy to hear your buddy is moving in so well, shelter pets have often been through a lot, I hold a lot of respect for the adopting folks. Enjoy the coming adventure with furry friend.

Looks like a very lovable chunk-o-dog. Congratulations. Thanks Lee! Blue's more of a hunk-o-chunk...whereas Trigger was a chunky-monkey! LOL Anniversary dinner w/the old dog . . . no pic. Kitchen floor w/the new one . . . no prob. I'm not sure if I should say "thanks" on this one Rich! LOL I was sad to hear about trigger... seeing him as your profile picture all these years has made him a memory closely associated with the rth as a whole for me. Yeah...It's going to take a long time (I believe) before I change my avatar. Any idea how old Blue is, Jason? Since he wasn't a "stray" per se, the shelter does know quite a bit about him. He's just over 5 years old. Still acts like a puppy sometimes...and definitely within his prime.

Omgosh! Blue is gorgeous! What a lucky pup! Thank you for rescuing, and especially rescuing a pup who has spent so much time back and forth. All they need is a little time to adjust. Welcome to the group, Blue!!
