Hello friends!
I recently bought a star diamond brand rock tumbler. It is the same footprint as a lortone 33b and needed a drive gear for the motor. I had no idea what a drive gear was but I recently bought 2 replacement motors for my lortone 45c and it is supposed to be the same motor o figured for a price of 25$ shipped id be able to just swap the new motor in...
Anyways tumbler comes and sure enough it has gears that turn instead of a pulley and belt
I searched on the usual sites (rockshed and kingsley) but they don't carry parts for star diamond stuff. Also searched here and found a couple of posts asking about the proper gear but no one ever gave an answer or reported back with what size worked.
So i did what I could...counted the teeth (12 teeth) measured the output shaft on the motor (3/16"). Next measurement involved is the "pitch" and that comes with both more math than im comfortable doing as well as the fact that the broken gear i got with it is fairly mangled to the point where its hard to measure.
I bought a hear on ebay that was listed as 3/16" bore 12 tooth 32 pitch and when it arrived it is too small. The 32 pitch gear has a diameter on the teeth of 7/16". The broken gear as best I can determine has a diameter of 5/8"
I have reached out to the seller for help in finding the proper size gear but figured I'd ask here because I know we have some smart mechanically minded folks around. Any help is greatly appreciated and if I can figure out the proper sized gear I will update and post in the old threads with the answer!
One last thing, I did try to just put a pulley on the motor and drive shaft but there is a weird bracket on the motor and things don't want to line up properly that way. If I can get the right gear it should work just fine. Hete is a puc of the motor with bracket
If you've read this far thank you, and if you have any insights thank you even more!!
