Thank you for your service!
My father, brother, 3 husbands, son and grandson all served. I'm a proud Navy brat. I wished DH a happy Veteran's Day. He grunted. LOL!

Looks like the only one I overlapped time with was fossilman. US Army 74-78. I don't consider myself a Vietnam era vet, and I wasn't when I went in but they changed the dates and now I am. (Imagine that the govt was doing things the public didn't know about!)

(Imagine that the govt was doing things the public didn't know about!) The "era" goes till all US boots with official missions were gone. Some of the actions Gerald Ford took saved a lot of lives of people who helped our guys over there, and us not knowing they were there till much later doesn't change it. But I think we agree that any special benefits offered to those vets are not something I would pursue over the guys who deserve it. We also overlap since I began my enlistment in 75.

Thanks for putting the thread up Rick! Jason US ARMY 82nd Airborne 91-94 I was stationed at Pope AFB 69-71. the 82nd was rotating between Fort Bragg and Vietnam. When returning from Vietnam troops were not adjusting well. One guy would visit the rec center at Pope to find peace. I regularly played golf and bowled at Bragg.

I went in Infantry...and reclassed to Parachute Rigger. When I got to Bragg, I worked on the flight line on Pope. I also got selected to work on the C-17 rigging procedures...and was working full-time on Pope. I loved eating at the chow hall on Pope...it was WAY different than the Army's chow hall! LOL

I was a computer operator across the street from the C-5A. I visited a good friend from college who was stationed at Ft. Devons in Massachusetts. We both ate food in the dorm dining hall for four years. He was so proud that the mess hall at Devons cooked eggs to order.

One of my most vivid memories was the eggs the mess hall brought out one time when we were on an exercise. The Mermite cans turned the eggs green. I felt like I was in a Dr. Suess nightmare! LOL

I'm a little late to this. I was Army, '65-'67, stationed in So Korea. A local couple has formed a non-profit and is flying a huge flag honoring Veterans in one of Utah's state parks, Snow Canyon. The flag is 150x78 ft, weighs 400 lbs. Wife and I went yesterday and it was amazing, spent some time talking with volunteers, as a Vet got to sign the storage container. They'll do it again next year. Beautiful!!
