Hi, my name is Mike. I live in a pretty boring area for rock hunting. Nothing but shales and sandstone type of rock (Southern Indiana). I was bitten by the rock hounding bug on Lake Superior. Wife and I camped at Muskellonge Lake on Lake Superior and discovered this activity. Now I have 2 tumblers with drums at various stages. I didn't realize the time required to tumble rock but I don't mind; it's a hobby that can be done on the weekends.

Lake Superior Rocks ROLL !!! (and tumble and vibrate and many of them eventually get a really nice shine to 'em !) ((Even the ones that are not agates ... which would be MOST of them!!!))

Welcome Mike, from New Hampshire. I too am mostly in a similar situation, N.H. is called “the granite state” for a good reason. I have to travel many miles to do any kind of serious rock hounding.

Welcome! Yes… there are many of us jealous of the Lake Superior locale. It’s like a little trap, and you didn’t even know it was coming!🤓 It happened to all of us in a similar manner. It’s a fun hobby though and will keep you active and makes for a good connection with family. We used to keep a pile of our tumbles on a lazy susan in the middle of our dining table. Whenever we had family from out of town we’d sit there for hours just talking and all the while everyone is perusing all the beautiful stones. 👍
