Hello,
I'm just an old guy with a few pails of 'pretty' rocks that I've been storing for many years. Somehow my first 'real' tumbler got dragged over to my reloading bench and relegated to polishing brass for my rifles and handguns. As a kid I had a few 'toy' tumblers, birthday gifts and such but without the right directions to make things shiny I moved on.
My family owned a gravel operation in North Dakota and little downpours revealed some pails of interesting stones. Several of those pails are still in my garage so now that I'm an antique and looking for few things to keep me busy, tumbling has come into the picture. I'm just here to read and learn a few things, I probably won't have much to offer as I'm on the bottom level of knowledge at this point.
Thanks for providing this forum, I look forward to the knowledge I might gain from everyone's experience.

I hope you don't mind, but I moved your post into its own thread in the "introduction" area from where you originally posted. It would have simply gotten lost in the existing thread you added to, and more people will see it here. Enjoy your stay! ETA: Oh yeah, we have a very active tumbling forum, so ask away if you have any questions.

I'm just here to read and learn a few things, I probably won't have much to offer as I'm on the bottom level of knowledge at this point. Welcome to the forum Mark! Somehow I think you might be underselling yourself in the quote above - anyone who can muddle through the full account Cloudinary setup process and emerge successfully already has my full attention. Good job with that and keep the photos coming especially if they look like that 2nd batch photo you posted.

Welcome from NEOhio! and I agree with Tommy! We all start somewhere (note my user name) and anytime you learn by doing and share, we all learn too! There are many different ways to do lapidary and I for one am always interested to see others processes! Look forward to see what you create!

The forum has already been quite helpful and I'm learning plenty by lurking around and reading some of the historical postings. The tumbling recipes and Lot-O advice has been very effective advice for me so far. Winters are long in Minnesota so this is working into my schedule quite well. Regards, Mark

I gotta ask you this... Would I be correct in guessing that you're an ATV person too? Your profile picture made me wonder. I'm curious now... That's where I spend a big part of my summer here in Minnesota. Just trying to get lost in the forests and somehow find my way home by the end of the weekends. Plus it's a good way to search for a few rocks in quiet places. Regards, Mark

Regards, Mark While this wasn't directed at me, I just thought I'd point out that the member in question is actually the "she" in the avatar photo. Shame on me if I don't have the name correctly, but I believe it is Petra. Someone please correct me if my assessment is incorrect.

My apologies to Petra! Using the profile photo gave me a 50/50 chance of getting it right and I struck out on all accounts. Typical...

I've been to TN - Ride Royal Blue and WV - Hatfield McCoy/Outlaw trails. I'm far from an expert rider, but I can hold my own. Hubby has a RZR rock climbing edition and a couple of ATV's. Love the mountains and the woods. Love to find creeks and just walk them. Always looking for new places to ride!

Like you, I've been known to tumble a little brass now and then.
