Hi all,
I am getting close to retirement and this would be a great hobby for me. I am gathering rocks and equipment.
so far I have a Vibra-Sonic with two hoppers, a small loretone trim saw, and some Montana agate I got from my Great Aunt and Uncle years ago. My great Uncle worked for Marathon oil in the 50's through the 70's and was always a rock hound and traveled the whole state. He had some stories of rocks he found.
Since he passed on and I look to be retiring and a few years I have been collecting stone to work on. So far I have bought malawi rough, Turtiella rough, Botswana rough and while I was living in Utah I was able to find some red horn coral. Recently I bought a few pounds of LSA and a piece of Moroccan apple valley agate.
I hope to take some classes and make jewelry to keep myself busy.

Welcome from the Pac NW! Sounds like you are off to a great start. I’d suggest actually just getting going learning your equipment. You’ll have more time once you are retired but there’s a lot of small learning steps that can be done in just an hour here and there. Your red horn coral find sounds really cool. I’ve had to buy mine.
