I found this rock while hiking Eisenhower Mountain near Palm Desert, CA. I would like to know what it is and if it can be tumbled. 1) The color is white to light peach. 2) I do not know how to describe the shape/cleavage. 3) It was able to scratch glass. 4) The specific gravity was 2.6. 5) It did not react with concentrated vinegar. 6) I did not perform a flame test. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum.
I'm no ID expert, but my first guess would be rose quartz (which can be found in Riverside County). Also, the specific gravity of quartz is 2.65 according to a Google search. There are certainly folks here who are more knowledgeable than I, so perhaps others will jump in with an answer.
ETA: If it is quartz, it can certainly be tumbled.

Feldspar came to mind when I first saw the pic...but Dave is probably right! LOL

Looks to perhaps be a peach-colored milky quartz stone.

Looks like stained quartz.
Good job on describing it.

not knowing if there is Rose Quartz in CA. I would lean toward Iron stained quartz. It should tumble as others have stated.
