Greetings! I procured this material last year and the gentleman didn't remember what variety it is... it's fine grained, porcelain quality. Thanks in advance, Patrick

It kind of looks like Gary Green Jasper (Larsonite), but I'm no ID expert.

It kinda does but I don't think it's Gary Green (respectfully)- I have a few pieces of GG and they are very different from this- this is finer-grained and lacks all blues

As I mentioned, I'm no expert, but I thought I'd take a crack at it. Someone will come along that will be able to help.

I won’t venture a guess but plenty of Morrisonite shares those colors.
And you did say it's fine grained, porcelain quality. : )

Morrisonite was my first thought though I'd say it's Morrionsite-like in coloration. I doubt it's real Morrisonite but could be a cousin knowing you're from Idaho (like me). I have a hunch about the area where you might have found it if it's an Idaho/Eastern Oreon jasper.

Since you said you got if from someone else I'm assuming that it's not necessarily Idaho material. Looks like Morrisonite to me too!

WOWZAS!!! I think you nailed it, good sir! This made my day! I know names are just names but I already feel so relieved just having a reference point to move forward on... having the ability to discuss and research it further is everything in our lapidary world. Thank you so much!!!

Thank you so much!!! For what it’s worth. Pretty confident it’s not morrisonite. Has too much of that Gary green look, which also comes from McDermitt

I would argue it’s a lesser known material. Similar to the Royal eyes cabenite that comes out of the same region. Only reason I know is because I have some. I have a lil of everything 😂
