Here is an agate shard from Hector Hills. It has these segmented tube structures, and a couple of round features. Is this palm bog? Are the tube structures palm root?

I just think it’s some random piece of chalcedony or agate or whatever the general term is. Could be from wood, hard to tell.

Here is a possible example of Bog wood, or petrified cycad (palm). My great grandfather actually found a good size chunk of it, which I broke up and am polishing

choochoorocks From the image, looks like perhaps a brecciated old 'agate' material reformed with more silica at a later time? Looks like a fine lapidary material for sure.

⬆️ agreed. Are you going to tumble it? That should turn out real nice.

⬆️ agreed. Are you going to tumble it? That should turn out real nice. Some of those segments are deep channels, so I don't plan to tumble it. I have other specimens that I may tumble.

In the early 1900s-1940s my great grand pa traveled between Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, collecting rocks all the while. I just inherited them all from my mom. Most look like just ‘rocks’, but a few are amazing, like this one.

That second pictured example is what we call "Pocket Rot Wood " in Texas. Quite a bit found in the George West area. Kind of resembles dino bone but it is actually a replacement of partially decomposed pet wood. There is another similar type that is very vuggy often with tiny crystals in the vugs, because the holes are not totally silica filled, that some call Ghost Wood. It's not actually palm or bog. but most likely some kind of conifer.
