So have you ever seen a rock, slab etc somewhere and in hindsight wish you bought it?
My oops is several years ago I was at Kingsley North looking through their bins of rough. Laying on the floor was a piece of ocean jasper the size of a basketball. I was going to ask how much it was then got squirreled by other pretty rocks and forgot until I was halfway home. I probably couldn't afford it at the time anyway, but it was long before OJ went extinct... Shoulda woulda coulda

Mine was a 3-4 years ago when Phil had just dug Red Falcon. He was offering it by the box & I can't remember the $ per lb but remember it was like 3 or 4 different "packages" I was gonna buy some and then I wishy washed and when I went back a couple days later it was all gone and every time I see some, I kick myself

There is a seller on IG I buy stuff from that has some beautiful slabs of it. Better than the stuff we gotta

I haven't had great results from my purchases from him. He has a lot of followers so can price high. There were/are some sellers on eBay that beautiful material and get high prices on their auctions. I missed out on some good material years ago when I was a hobbyist because expense needs to be controlled.
When I find something of high quality I clean out the seller. I have a little absolutely stunning OJ. I like to shop.

Not yet. But I have gotten some good deals on stuff that people who were selling had no idea what they had.

Mostly I run across single slabs or rough that I bought years ago and it’s now gone up so much in price that I wish I had bought way more of it back when I got the one or two pieces that I have. Ya, it’s a bummer.

I have absolutely passed and then regretted it, but not nearly as often as I have bought something, then had buyers remorse.

Definitely wished I would have purchased more morrisonite, bruneau and Mexican imperial. However, the one piece I didn't buy was a piece of black Carey (it had a red section attached) back in the 70's. I had a choice between a very fine piece of red and chose it over the black because $30/lb. was a lot of money at the time.

It’s the black plumes with the red tips correct? www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/mw-bonfire-plume-agate-rough-slab-1988979132

The best time to buy rocks is when you see them. They’re rarely still available when you go back.

Here’s the real question. Do you get the quality of material as what he posts?

Talking about buyers remorse, as I was going through stuff for the traveling box I discovered that some small malachite cabochons I’d bought years ago are fake! Argh, flipping scammers. 😤 Luckily these are tiny 4mm cabs and I wouldn’t have spent too much on them. Apparently at the time I couldn’t tell the difference between real and fake. But now, they just stood out to me instantly, those are completely fake! Wish I knew who I bought them from, I’d go back and scold them.
