The clearance section of any store is generally where I belong. I’m not sure what made me pick up this rock from the quarter bin at a show recently but after scouring a lot of mud from it with a toothbrush and soaking it in iron out for a couple of hours, it turned out to be a lot more interesting than expected, even if it isn’t a high quality chunk of…whatever it is. The blue material is translucent but the white is not really (at least from what is exposed) and while not super obvious in photos there is some very pale pink mineral within the white that fluoresces light pink under my crappy and super cheap black light. None of them scratch readily with quartz though the pink can be scratched with heavier pressure. The black/white worn botryoidal-looking areas are definitely softer and I can scratch them with steel and a little effort. I’m not expecting a specific answer really, I like a good mystery. Cut or tumble? Break along the existing fracture lines? Do nothing and add it to the pile of weirdos I’m curating? Bob’s your oyster, I’ll let the internet decide what I should do. Sorry if it’s not all that interesting, just can’t get it out of my head for some reason.

Are you kidding?! Of course, it's interesting. I have no clue what it is, but I would guess it has some agate. I think it's really cool, esp the pattern of lines. I'd say good catch. Tumble to reveal more or take a slice off it.

Tumble to reveal more or take a slice off it. Right?! Haha. I keep second guessing myself because it was in the bargain bin. Also because I only know enough to be dangerous. Curiosity will definitely win on this one, we’re going in one way or another.

Great deal for a quarter! If it is soft or has soft parts, it might not turn out well tumbling. I would cut it or polish a part on a cabber and see what it looks like.
