I just talked to Cookie and they are ok. She thinks the worst part has passed but it's still pretty hairy. ;D She said to tell you all she'd be on-line but she's having a hurricane party right now ... LOL Powers out but they have a gas stove for cooking and hopefully enough supplies for the duration. Hope Emerald is fairing as well, she's south of Cookie so took the brunt of it first. We're A-OK here....one neighbor has a tree down in their yard....just missed the house. Another neighbor's basement got flooded. Power going on/off since about 2pm today. Haven't been out to survey the damage...but Matt said it was pretty bad as he was driving in at around 5pm this afternoon. (Trees down all over) Still getting some pretty healthy wind gusts and lots of heavy rain....most of the counties in our area are still under a flash flood warning. I think in a few more hours the worst of the rain should pass. Though, should we get many more wind gusts, I'm sure we'll see alot more trees go over. The ground is absolutely soaked. Think we had around 6" of rain so far...but not really sure. By the way, Matt is having a Tropical Storm party too...he has 4 of his college friends over...they're camping in our livingroom tonight. :-) I made a BIG pot of chili earlier...worked out great...no leftovers. Everyone came in soaked from work/school. Most campuses closed this afternoon and alot of businesses shut down early. Traffic was still a nightmare this afternoon....Matt left work at 4pm...got home at 6pm. Usually only an hour drive on a bad day. Hugs to Cookie....hope you're hanging in there! Anyone hear from Brett?

*sends hugs and positive thoughts your way Cookie*

I am glad Cookie, and Emerald are ok. I think Brett be ok, he sounds a lot like me, except he would not be either stupid or showing off like I did during hurricane Bob. If he was in the affected area, we might not hear from him for a while. I heard I-10 East bound fell in the water. This one was a big one. All I can say is wow.

Morning everyone, We're safe and sound. Power stayed off till 4:00 am and then the house came ablaze with light. Should have turned all the light switches off. We'd take a flash light to the bathroom and still throw the switch. Duh! The last wave was the worst part. Still lights when it hit Atlanta, so we could see what it was doing there and just had to sit and wit for it. Lights went out about 7:30. Called my supervisor in Atlanta this morning and she said when the wave got up to where we are it hit the mountains and stalled. Sat on top off us for about 4 hours. Scary! Theres trees down all over, but I talked to a neigbor who went into town and he said they had cleared the trees and debri from the road, some I'm going to try to go open the store. Thanks for all your praters and positive energy. I ended up staying pretty calm for being a storm weenie. Or maybe it was the wine Thanks again, cookie

I'm just glad everyone came out safe. Prayers for those who weren't so lucky. And I'll still beam positive energy southward for the energy the clean up will take. Lord KNOWS I hate cleaning. I tried dancing naked by the light of the moon like kd suggested to see it'd help...unfortunately I'm horrifically nearsighted and it turns out the "moon" was my neighbor's porch light. They've asked me not to do that anymore as the dog still won't come out from under the steps. Good luck to everyone, you're clearly made of sterner stuff than I am.

Cookie.... Power went back out last night....wish I could have called you to tell you it was "almost over" It really calmed down here around 11ish?
No more damage in our neighborhood to report....just everything is soggy. Right at this very moment....the sun is shining and it's beautiful out.
*Happy to see the sun again!*

Hello Cookie, Helen and Brett ...
You all have been in my prayers since the first hurricane ... I'll keep a good word for everyone who is dealing with the current weather problems and everything else you are dealing with.
Hermatite - THAT'S TOO FUNNY ... I THINK I SUFFERED FROM INCONTENANCE ... ISN'T THAT WHERE YOU WET YOUR PANTS FROM LAUGHING SO DARNED HARD?
Best wishes to you all.
John

There are certain religious hollidays that are so neglected. Try telling your boss "Hey, if I'm not outside dancing naked and clockwise around a tree in, like, 15 minuets..." I mean, timing is everything cookie

the new Wiccan Rock Club Band, Cookie on bass, dancing clockwise, doing the Vibe....
Hermy on electric lead guitar, blinded by all the lights but jumping up and down enthusiastically,
KD keeping time on the drums like a good tumbler should.......dum dum dum da dum, no Dee Dee...DOH
and all the other girls go "doo da doo da doo doo, rock on... by the moooooooooooooooooooooon"

I am so glad all you guys made it ok. Please forgive me, however if I let my mind visualize your celebration rather than join in. I wouldn't want to show anybody my shortcomings. I feel good you guys made it. I was worried. It is good to be worried about someone, even someone you have never seen. Glad you all made it, and Brett made it also. I have been watching some of the destruction. You all deserve the celebration, even if it is in concept.
