you shouldn't have to....if it ain't polished up in a week, you may need to try a different polish or........you may have some rocks that won't take a polish well at all, i've been down that road!!! what kind of rocks are you trying to polish?

Thanks KD, I have (finally) got some ready to come out of the 500 grit tomorrow. I haven't even opened the barrel ... can you believe that? It's not "bulging" anywhere so I left it alone. It's been forever to get this far and I still have at least one more step to go. Although I did, on my last grit purchase, buy some of the 1000 Aluminum Oxide and also some Tripoli, even though I'm not quite sure why. Guess because so many of you use it, so thought I should have some on hand. cher coming out of the 500 is the time to use the 1000 aluminum oxide or the tripoli then go to polish.

1000 is an option but it pays off in the long run....

I use tripoli and then 1000 grit after my 500 grit and before my polish and I have had great results. I will post some pictures of some Aventurine and rose quartz that I did soon. Tami
